What did YOU do today?

I have one of the 01 powerdome style Ranger hoods that was intended for my green Ranger that I intended on putting holes in to make it a sort of cowl induction. Haven’t quite figured out what I want to try for the Choptop or F-series trucks yet, I think a spacer looks a little tacky for daily use

The overheated engine bay goes into knowledge I just don’t have, but I did have a thought when I was reading this. I don’t remember what the original problem was, but you feel heat in the engine bay is causing the truck to run funny. If you do the spacers on the hood, I would think that’s very easy to do, and you could do it temporarily to see if it solves the problem. If it does, you can come up with an alternative you like better. But if you start with a lot of fabrication and modification for the alternative, and find out that wasn’t the problem, well, welcome to my world.

This is a valid point that I have considered. I’d need to get some longer metric bolts and figure out a spacer.

On my Choptop the problem is the fuel lines heating up because there’s no factory insulation protecting them anymore and I have headers. I have a line on some insulation to use on the fuel lines, I just don’t have the stuff yet because things have happened and I haven’t been able to afford it. I’ve also noticed that once my electric fan kicks on, it never shuts off. Either it’s not moving enough air or my engine bay is staying hot.

On the F-150, I don’t know exactly what the problem is. Everything seems to be functioning but it’s acting like it’s getting heat soaked. This is a newer issue for it. Unfortunately the truck has so many issues that I don’t see much value in trying to do much to it, I’d rather spend my time and money trying to get the F-350 fixed because it’s arguably more valuable to me right now. The F-150 will get rebuilt later. Unfortunately I need to get the shop done and the green Ranger done before I can get back to the F-350.

For fuel lines, I'd see about picking up some the factory insulation on the clutch hose from the junkyard next time I was there...

Took the family down to the creek to go swimming. Unfortunately there was a dead raccoon floating in the creek right were we climb down into the water.

Put a damper on the mood.

But hey, free lunch!
