What did YOU do today?

We hung around Olympic Park for a couple hours watching the squirrels before the concert.

Wow. I’ve lived here since 1979, and I didn’t know you could see the capital from Olympic Park.

The squirrels escaped.

Actually, I can't believe you would denigrate squirrels by comparing politicians to them.

Fat tailed rats that will do anything for a couple peanuts…

I'm a Class-A driver, and the longest time I've sat in one city outside of DFW was ATL. Five hours creeping through. I'm 43, so old enough to remember The Old Way, but young enough to watch that ship sail into the sunset while holding the last ticket. I wanted those values to hold out just a little while longer.

So far today I fired up the tractor again to till another pass but picked up rocks beforehand, then picked up rocks again before taking the box scraper around moving dirt then again after taking the chain harrow to it, so far have about a 5 gallon bucket worth of golf ball or bigger rocks... and a hose clamp... Next step is to take a big landscape rake and do some fine tuning before the last pass with the chain harrow...

Traveled out to Osage Farms to see what they had. Not much yet. A lot of Florida stuff. Not personally a fan of Florida cantaloupe. Too small, and not very flavorful. Not a single one passed the slap & sniff test.

Went to work, did errands, came home.

Debating on whether or not I wanna fire up the chainsaw or play some San Andreas... As of now.. I think San Andreas might take the W lol.
You had one job, CJ!

Unloaded the Choptop from this week’s adventures and after putting everything away, I decided to see about finishing my work on the brush hog for now. Cleaned up the tear in the outer driveshaft plastic sleeve cover and because it still snagged on the inner sleeve, I plastic welded the outer sleeve back together and now it more or less works as advertised again.

Then I got really ambitious and did a real world deadlift and sketchily propped the brush hog up on a corner so I could weld the bottom from a more comfortable position. Got that done and was scratching my head over how I was going to get it set down without getting hurt and the neighbors kid came past so I shot my neighbor a text and asked if one of them would be available and my neighbor Jerry stopped like 15 minutes later and helped me set it down.

So now being excited to see how well my notch would work out I had to hook it back to the tractor and see. That lead to lubing the lever that works the lift so it moves smoothly again. Well, I still can’t lift it to the top without the driveshaft hitting, but I sort of expected that would be a possibility. I was reluctant to make my notch any deeper for fear of either creating a real snag point on the front of the deck and concerns over getting too close to the blades. Just not trying to have those problems. Without the over-run coupler I might be able to get full lift with the notch that I made, but I want to use the coupler. I get about half of the lift range now with the notch. Should be good enough. Probably test it out sometime this week.

What did YOU do today?

Put the tow hooks on the truck, put new spindles, bearings, belt, and blades on the mower, and cut the grass. It was to my shoulders in some places because of the rain and because we were out of town for two weeks

It's a nasty black bird, slightly bigger than a pigeon. Reputedly flies in straight lines and therfore commonly used to indicate the shortest path between 2 points.
Crows are also incredibly smart and can be taught more words than a parrot…

I spent all of Friday afternoon cleaning and waxing my Mustang. Yesterday morning my son and I took it to the first show of the season, the weatherman said it wouldn't rain until at least 1or 2 PM. I registered at about 10 am and it was raining hard enough by 11 to chase us out. As I drove by the registration tent they were hollering at me to stop. My son rolled down his window to see what they wanted and a guy handed a trophy in the window that I apparently won. Now I have a clock mounted in the big end of a connecting rod with a piston for a base and a freshly waxed black car that was driven 15 miles in the rain to clean all over again. It was still a good day.

Dude, that's like the Covid car shows we used to hsve! 🤣

Yesterday was all outside work, after I flattened that area I mentioned before I jumped on the lawn mower and finished what I started Friday then talked myself into jumping on the tractor with the brush hog and mow the back portion of the yard and some of the wetland area, I stopped before I got to areas where I might get the tractor stuck... Was hoping to have more energy later but was pretty much done by about 8...

Yesterday I disassembled the log splitter, cleaned the rust and most the old paint off, and painted it Blue.

Today I reassembled most of it.

The hydraulic fluid I have is grade 68, and it calls for grade 46 in the summer grade 32 in the winter. So I need to pick up about 3/4 gallons of that.
Waiting for the new lovejoy spider to come in.

I’m going to replace the tongue bar that was rusty and twisted up with the one from my old jet ski trailer. Need to make a few spacers because the original one was a 3x3 c channel, new one is 2x3 tube.
