I've been using h&r blockhead for a number of years because I'm lazy and don't want to keep up with last years total or whatever they always ask but I remember it being annoyingly "simplified" which made everything harder... I have a thing I have to use I think it's the K1 form or something so I'm stuck on premium, need to do that this weekend...

Did mine this afternoon. Had to pay state more than my fed refund. That was only about an $80 difference. But then, somehow, "file free with Turbotax" cost $118

Just can't win.

Turbo tax is sneaky, you need to make sure you stay on their free option. They tried 3 or 4 times for me this year to upgrade. A new page will load asking to continue with the next tier plan with a "continue" button, and a "back" button. There is a 3rd option that says something like "proceed with basic plan" or "no thanks" that will keep you on the free option.
