What did YOU do today?

If you are not using an engine out of a retired MIG you are doing it wrong...

I don't have a runway to deice.

The torching of the gravel driveway worked well. So well, I did some more of the driveway. Now about half of it is done. The only thing slowing things down is the tank freezing and needing to be shakken from time to time to aggetate the gas so it vaporizes better. I've run across that with propane stoves in the cold. So, it was not a surprise whennit happened with a 20# tank.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does that do?

It melts the ice either into the gravel or into vapor so both vehicles and people can get traction.

For here, needing to torch a gravel driveway is not a normal thing. By now, there would have been a couple stretches of days warm enough to melt the ice natuarally.

If you can, wrap a battery blanket around the tank. I do that to my 100lb tanks when it gets below - 15C.
@sgtsandman
I had thought about it but since I only have a couple hours of time to do it after work. And being it's a 20# cylinder that I'm carrying around, it might be more trouble than it's worth. Shaking the cylinder every so often is cheap and one less thing to drag around.

My brother called yesterday and wanted either a weedeater that could take attachments or a mini tiller... could have done either but best to use would be the Komatsu mini tiller I had lent to a coworker... got that today and got it running tonight, not my favorite carburetor design and it showed it's ugly head... was very cranky until it decided to cooperate, next time around it'll need either a carb kit or a new carb... it did run good but now I smell like bad 2 stroke gas...

Thats terrible. I always worry about that happening too

I contacted Amazon to let them know the package that was delivered was stolen by a porch pirate. Some very low-quality personality stole the kitty's food. It takes a very low-quality individual to steal food from an animal.
Sounds like a trap needs to be set for said porch pirate

Heres what i did today....

I had 2 round bales on the little trailer. Didnt look that deep....but it was. My buddy was on his way to pull it out so i fired up the 2N to try to plow path to it and around it...buried that bastard too.

Kinetic rope and a coyote F150 ended up getting me out. Actually came out eaiser then i expected. If he wasnt able to come i was gonna give it a whirl with the B2...but i dont know if it woulda had the weight.

finally got the squeaky belt idler pulley replaced on my escape, what a pain! remove rf tire, remove a underbody splash shield (which couldn’t be removed without taking off the grille guard cause those mounting brackets had the splash shield pinched to the core support) the belt & pulley came off easy enough, getting the belt back on was a pain. Couldn’t put the grille guard back on , hit a deer last summer & bent it up some, brackets bent too, didn’t come off easily & im sure everything is sprung. I was having to squirt wd-40 in the pulley bearing every morning before work, wasn’t sure it would last until spring, not exactly a roadside fix. Took 2-1/2 hours out in the garage. At least it was a sunny day with minimal wind.

Went to an auction again, almost behaved myself... biggest most expensive thing was 5 crab traps for $55... I mean they sell new for $20 each plus rope and buoy's so I couldn't not... other than that got about 18" of some rail road track (it's like 8" tall, heavy as heck), some Dana 60 hubs, spools of fuel and vacuum hose, some random belts, metal stock, little ammo, a nice face shield so I might actually use one (with a bunch of replacement screens even), some small air tools and some other random stuff... I had to stop looking at pallets that no one else was bidding on, I said NO to a bunch of stuff just so I didn't have to deal with the rest of the stuff... that and I didn't want to take another trip and between me and my brother only had a Ranger and Escape, just made it in one trip, ranger was pretty loaded down though... he got two sets of trailer tires and some metal too...
