What did YOU do today?

Had a hairbrained idea yesterday for a target backstop that I can put at the property line to be safe for whatever I want to site in... see I have this big ol stack of scrap 2x4's from work, found 40 that are 38" long so I stacked them together long ways so it's about 5' wide by 38" tall, 3 3" screws each and I just finished that part. Next step is to add a top and bottom row to the front so it's not as wobbly then add angled sides for support and cap that so it will hold dirt behind it. I'll put it at the fence/tree line in the swamp area so it's really not in the way of jack squat, t he neighbor is a farmer and can't do anything with the tree area and even if something makes it through there's a mile behind it after 100 yards of trees... If none of that makes sense I'll see about getting a picture once I'm further along...

Yesterday I had my test meter and knock-off power probe out because dad’s one lawn tractor wouldn’t start and while it was out I figured I’d see if the new alternator on the Ferguson would do alternator things but no. Gonna try hooking up some more wires there, the instructions were clear as mud as usual. The other question I’ve had about that thing is that I have no idea if the pulley I’m using on that turns the alternator fast enough for it to work.

Also been considering my problem with the stump jumper for the brush hog. I’m thinking I might try my hand at making a broach that I can hammer through the grooves for the splines. The ideal would be a broach that I can pull through with a heavy bolt but I don’t have the tooling to make such a thing. Not entirely sure why the machinists it’s been to didn’t think of such a thing unless they just didn’t want to be bothered. I need to find a good machinist…

Its not finished, but its mostly assembled. Used the engine hoist to put the hood on. Its rediculously heavy. View attachment 134509View attachment 134510View attachment 134511

Just for giggles
