What did YOU do today?

Apparently I feel off the rangerstation map. Figured good place to say Hello. Is that darn Mexican RSH still hangout on here.
RSH hasn’t logged on since 2018.

Went and picked up a KC Chiefs themed truck for the dealership. It is a truck that you can scan a sticker and possibly win it.

Short day at work thanks to some crummy weather.. seized the opportunity and took my buddy with M.S out wheelin' afterwards.

Poor guys been living at a homeless shelter for the better part of a year, ALLLLL thanks to our states absolute JOKE of a DHHS. Thankfully, it seems as if he's FINALLY getting into an assisted care facility within the next week or so.. he got his letter of acceptance last week, filled out all the paperwork, all the paperwork was accepted... High hopes and fingers crossed for Josh 🤞🏻🤞🏻if anyone deserves a break... It's that guy. He's in for a rough week... 8 hours getting an MRI on Friday and then straight into some 72 hour brain scan study immideately after.. apparently gonna be in pain for a week afterwards he says.. hell be in pain after walking a mile.. but apparently NOT moving for that many hours on end causes MUCH more pain 😕

Count your blessings and be thankful for what you have.

Solid 30° departure 🤠

🙏🙏🙏 not 🤞🤞! Or at least that before cross crossed fingers. I put in a couple.

😊

I did some clearing out in the garage to make room for the next thing. Mainly, if the wood in the garage doesn't have an immediate need for building a set of shelves and it's pretty much scrap anyway, it got cut up and put in the firewood rack.

I need room to be able to pull the 2019 in so I can remove the RTT with the chain hoist.

The trailer front and side panels need to come off today so the rack can be installed on it. The RTT needs a place to go until I can get the bed cap off it's storage cart and on the truck. I have a new seal on the way for the cap since the other is falling off. I need to figure out a way to get the seal to stick better to the rough fiberglass surface. Maybe spray on contact cement instead of using the adhesive that comes on the seal.

Anyway, once the cap is on the truck, the RTT can go on the storage cart for the winter.

Had an unusual amount of motivation after work today.. made use of it by getting a little more done to my future tow-rig square body GMC.

I managed to do it all without needing more stitches too!

I swear by E6000/goop, I think they’re both the same thing. They will stick just about anything to just about anything, it’ll stay in place, but then it comes off easy when you want to remove it. I think it’s second only to rust oleum.

The RTT is off the truck and on the saw horses. I didn't have time to get the trailer backed into the garage. So, that will be for tomorrow. Then I can start working on getting the bed cap ready for installation.

Went a got another car for the dealership. Am going to work on the float for the cancer board I set on for the parade tomorrow.

The RTT is on the trailer and the carrier for the bed cap has been slung and sort of holding the cap. The cart that it was stored on for the summer is still mostly supporting it. Chain hoists are pretty reliable but why tempt fate?

I just remembered something if it can help My garage is double wide and double deep, two f250s in front of two, deep garage and workshop.

I have a 45 foot +/- carport down the side. I just extended 12 foot 2x4s in line with the roof trusses, on top of some doubled up 2x6s, on top of four or five 4 inch posts. I built this ring in the back in about an hour.

My F250 long bed has a heavy Leer fiberglass cap on it. In the deep end, I put four 1-2”pulleys on the 2x4s near the corners of the cap, and I fed four small poly ropes to a bigger pulley in one spot on the side. On the end of the ropes by the truck, I quickly made four square head hooks from some 5/8 inch flat stock steel. When you hook the steel hook under the cab, it’s flat and too wide, and bent outward, so there’s no danger of scraping the side. The way I made the hooks and placed the pulleys, and I can pick that cap up about a foot with ease.

When I take the cap off the truck, I crawl inside, remove the clamps, and just push up with my back to pop it loose of the seal around the bed. Then I put a 2 x 4 in the front and a 2 x 4 in the back over the bed rails, so the cap is loose. I do the same thing when I put the cap down. It sits on the 2x4s, and then I can wiggle it into the right place and pull the 2x4s out. Back in the day, I could take the cap off and on in less than 30 minutes. Probably a weekend job for my old bones now.

Anyway, I have a half dozen friends who did the same thing in a simple way. They put four posts in the ground, are 2 x 4 or a 2 x 6 cross piece on top , and connected them with a turnbuckle cross for stability, so they can do the same thing for like $50.

If you have a spot out of the way, this might be an easy way to take the cap off and store it.

Finally, I have a winch from a boat trailer that I’ve considered rigging to pull the ropes to pull that cap off, but honestly, I’m not sure I will ever take it off again while I have the other trucks.

Hope it helps

Unfortunately the garage is too small and there is too much stuff in the way to rig up the better system you have.

Clearance to the side is not enough and still have access to the back yard.

If I were to extend the garage for more depth, the whole thing would have to be torn down and replaced. It was a glorified shed from the very beginning with an improper foundation and base for the slab, steel structure for the frame (must have been a kit), and aluminum siding attached right to the structure.

The original owner, who put it up, was a WWII vet. Great guy, but the work he and his buddies did both to the house and the VFW Post were sketchy as all get out. Meeting a code of any kind never even crossed their minds.
