What did YOU do today?

I followed a dust cloud that had @sgtsandman 's tail lights in it.

Started a buffing and waxing job on my 2002 F350 4x4 CCLB Powerstroke. I'll miss her when she sells, best truck I've ever owned but just too big for our needs now and rarely gets driven, 588 miles in the past 12 months.

I put together a birthday dinner for the cute brunette. I went to the dollar store and bought a half dozen silly cards, one romantic, got the little bags and the fuzzy stuffing stuff. Then I gave her two or three things that she left here on earlier visits, a couple different size battery packs because she loves the battery powered candles, and some
Flowers.

I was going to cook, and I’m still suffering from the flu, so we went to the local fancy Tavern.

And I got a Walmart little birthday cake and some funky candles. That was a hit.

She was happy. You know what I learned after all these years? If she’s happy, I’m happy.
Hmmm, the lesson I remember is just the opposite

I finally hit my F-150 with the Forscan.

Did a few simple mods:
-Turned off the powerpoint timer so maybe my fridge will be able to keep constant power (it has a eco mode and low voltage shutoff)
-Bambi mode
-Two press panic button... so it doesn't have a conniption fit every time I bump the panic button with the key in my pocket.
-Killed the "doo doo doo" when I first start the truck
-Killed the seatbelt alarms. I am a avid seatbelt promoter... I get beyond sick of the thing having tantrums as I jack around with a trailer or a gate because I don't have the seatbelt on. I always wear a seatbelt on the road so I don't feel I need the alarm.

Took it for a test drive, the lights are nice. Actually found a big doe contemplating running across the road in front of me... which was kind of ironic.

"Ranger 2.0" upgrade latest status. The end the thrash is finally in sight. Mortally wounded 355 is in pieces on the garage floor and the 385 ci spare engine from my brother's Super/Gas Vega is 99% together and the flex plate and starter is all that's left to install now before the engine can go in the truck.

Went to the junkyard at lunch and picked up two throttle cables for good measure and grabbed two tail lights from a second gen for the '92 I have to work on at some point since they were there... things are getting expensive, was like $45 for two throttle cables and $55 for two tail lights... of course I found a Ford battery wedge with stock bolt to have on hand and for some reason someone had 4 carpenter pencils duct taped together so they went with me... just went in with an adjustable wrench and a 9 in one screwdriver and was only there 20 minutes...

Worked.. took a nap.

Between getting whacked with a chisel and the tetanus booster they gave me on Tuesday ( my last one was 2 decades ago.. whoops!) I've had a couple of annoying headaches and just been super tired.

I did manage to get the wheeler washed up yesterday though.. I figured that was a little bit of work that was without risk of injury.. thankfully I was right. She cleaned up good 👍🏻 gotta use the thing to haul some brush and logs around my mother's yard before the end of the year but it's gonna be for sale on marketplace first thing in the spring.. turn it into a good chunk of money for some land.

Followed that dust cloud again. Set up camp. Watch these two go at it for a while.

Fixed the new jeep and put new tpms in the xlt wheels and put them on. I had to go on base and use the autocraft shop's balance machine to make sure they were good

Things have happened…

I apparently have some sort of problem or addiction with wanting custom vehicles because I sure spend a lot of time and effort re-engineering things… :icon_rofl: :icon_welder::icon_welder:

New tools have also been acquired… I’ve been welding, it’s been a bunch of time consuming stuff lately…

It was like 86F out tonight so I didn't get too ambitious... should have worked on the Explorer front diff swap but ended up mowing... I did put on one of the two tail lights on the '92, the other had a wasp nest in the tailgate so I sprayed that real good but I got some in the connectors so I let that dry while I was mowing... will likely get that done tomorrow just so it's done...

I also took apart my Bauer pump/compressor combo thing since the compressor side decided not to work yesterday, the check valve and piston area was dirty so I wiped all that off and it worked for like 30 seconds then got mad again, going to have to get more serious with an air compressor blowing out the reed valve or something as I think something is getting in that... of course it's riveted on...

Done all I could by myself this AM after I put the flex plate and starter on. Now it just needs to drop a foot and go back an inch but I need another body to help me line it all up and get it bolted to the transmission. After that I can do everything else by myself.......

Just had to get the Ranger Station decal in the shot.

I tried - and FAILED - to put a new serpentine belt on Big Red (96 f250 7.3).

What do these four blueprints have in common?

THEY CAN’T BE DONE IN THE REAL WORLD!!!

Wait, someone just told me I’ve been doing it wrong. You have to start by inserting the serpentine belt through the exhaust pipe…
