What did YOU do today?

Went to the local 8th mile, last Friday event of the year. Couldn't let the whole year go by without a good huffing of race gas through no cats!

People are stepping their games up around here... more than a few vehicles in the low-mid 5's... things that shouldn't be that fast either.. gassers and rat rods.. excited for next year.

Did some touch up paint work on the trailer, replaced the gas struts on the bed cap lift gate of the 2019, installed lift struts for the hood on the 2011, and tried to get the best info could for Jim Oaks on the wiring of his TRS3 build.

Drove an hour to pick up for free; 2 map cabinets and a gas stove made in the 60's.

Love those map cabinets.

That old gas stove might be worth bank in the US if the climate folks get their way.

Actually, I think k they are trying to get rid of gas appliance use. I can't believe how stupid the general population is getting.

Did a bunch of work on the clown car. As a bonus, I got to order dust shields for the front brakes and replace the left cv axle because of a torn boot. Other than pressing in the hubs and restoring the front suspension, it's pretty much done. I just needs the oil changed and the locks, hinges, and door seals lubed.

Decorated for fall and started on reorganizing the garage. Cap back on the ranger, I swear that thing weighs more every time I move it. Took the year-old gas out of the generator & will put it in the ford tractor, im sure it can handle 4 gallons of stabilized fuel along with 10 gallons of fresh fuel. Im not a fan of fall decorating, it looks nice but 2 months from now when its 35 & raining out instead of the sunny and 78 of today I will have to take it all down & put up Christmas stuff.

Well that process starts with forcing manufacturers stop making them. That's where the old simple stoves become sought after.

But it looks nice and I bet you made someone else feel good about it.

Unloaded the two new to me pallet jacks from the F350, got one figured out and working decent, the other needs some disassembly and draining on the jack to work, along with a couple new pivot pins for the handle... Then put the new belt on the finish mower on the tractor then mowed for a bit and went out tractoring while the local air show was going on about 7 miles away so I could see the Blue Angels doing stuff, they made a few close flybys while I was out there... then switched from finish mower to the disc and started working up the bottom of the pond and the back area to flatten it out. Got about half way through the back area when I went back to the house for a fresh drink and the tractor stalled half way back... seems to be something fuel supply related, cleaned up the usual culprit and it started right back up... almost dark so will continue tomorrow...

Went out later and screwed with the non working pallet jack, pulled the check ball and screw that was fine, the problem was the release valve was stuck in the down position, got that cleaned up and working but the pivot pins for the handle were worn about 2/3 through the 12mm pins, even the pin for the roller that pushes on the piston was worn some. Either this thing got some heavy use over many years or it lived on a semi or something... I found some 1/2" round bar that I cut to length before I realized it must be 12mm since it didn't fit in the holes so tomorrow I get to stick them in the lathe and trim them down... only dumb thing is I cut my thumb with the hack saw... not too bad though. So, two fully functioning pallet jacks for $34 and like 3 hours of time... not bad.

I spent all day cleaning the pool getting it ready to close for the year. Between running up to the shop to show the car ( selling the 14 Focus) and back and forth to get supplies. I did find time to finally clean the mud out of the Ranger. Hopefully today I can find time to clea. The outside.

Yesterday I got the 4.0 that’s going for a core wrestled out of my shed and on the green Ranger so I can drop it off Monday. Also got to mess with Lisa’s car a bit because she arrived yesterday with the faint smell of overheating and I’m not sure the cooling fans are working right. I managed to get one fan working for now. Later today I’ll be making a run out there and I’ll see if I can track down the problem. I’m gonna have to try and find some troubleshooting information because what I have isn’t really very descriptive, it implies you know what they’re talking about and since it’s not a Ford, I’m just not very knowledgeable, lol
