What did YOU do today?

Got the new back door installed, As with most projects this 2-1/2 hour job only took 6 hours! I did have a bad sill plate, not surprised really, Ive helped with other similar projects in the past & that bottom board always seems to be in need of replacing. The inside trim had bad spots at the bottom from moisture. Its a compressed wood product so you know what happens when moisture appears, it expands. I think I spent more time on trim than the door change out. New door is much heavier. old one was fiberglass skinned with a foam core. The new one is a aluminum shell with a wood core. Original door was hard to lock & could only be locked or unlocked from the inside. Plus new door has a window that can be opened. I had priced a door through lowes & they wanted over $1,000 for one, I went to a actual manufacturer & saved a little over half. Now that is one heck of a view… awesome.

Tomorrow I'll change the coolant in the wife's minivan.
What a pain in the neck that was.
Pacifica has two belly pans on it with about two dozen little tiny bolts that hold them on. The one behind the bumper has to come off and you need to unbolt at least the front half of the second one to get to the radiator hose to drain it.

Tore apart the Summit again today and put that shim in the carrier that I forgot to install the other day. It's all back together and a set of battery's are charging so I can go out and test it. It took just shy of 2 hours to disassemble and reassemble it this time but everything was fresh in my mind so just like doing the other side of something it went much quicker this time. One note though, for some reason the front drive shaft from the trans was a pain to get together. Last time it just slipped together and this time it fought me the whole way. some choice words were thought of and there went about 8 mins of my life I'll never see again.

Yesterday I'd moved some dirt to the driveway circle thing that I'd filled in last year that had settled some, so far I've got that flattened out so that'll be nicer...

Welp I killed the Summit again... this time an axle shaft. I flipped it on the grass and tried to upright it by engaging the lockers and using the throttle and snapped the right rear axle. They were known to be weak anyways and unless I buy the set on Aliexpress the only CVD's I can find for it they want $150 for so that's just not happening. I ordered the stock ones for $8 per side. Since this has the locking diff's I can't use the CVD's for the Revo because one side axle is shorter than the other, Front left and Right rear are shorter. Bummer. I should see them at the end of the week or beginning of next.

I also ordered enough parts to build another full diff so I have a spare on hand to swap in when I kill it again.

Changed ubolts on the ranger.

Now the front needs to be lowered

Today since my last post I went and picked up my brother and the 3 point tractor post hole digger and we dug the 6 holes for my boat lean to then set the posts in concrete, I'm beat... mixing 6 80 pound bags of concrete in a wheelbarrow one at a time was more work than I expected (could have used a mixer but that's harder to dump into post holes with the posts there). Then we did a quick welding project on one of his walk behind cultivators that's kinda like a big hoola hoe that the metal is too flimsy so we butchered a $3 machete...

Since everyone loves pics...

Here's some of the fun rocks I took out of the "free" fill dirt I got:

The help I had when I was moving dirt that day:

The fruit of my labor, it will be mowable with the riding mower once I pull out a bazillion more rocks (the edge of the dirt moved over like 4' where the trees in the foreground are, they were previously over the edge):

The stump that I fought and won, had to bring in power tools...

The stump was on the left side of the shed in this pic about 4' from the corner:

Here's where we got today, from not having any holes even marked to drilled and posts installed and set. For a couple of the holes I had to get off the tractor and me and my brother had to push down on the auger frame, then it got past the hard part and dug a bit too far :):

I did just order a full set of belts for the mower so I can fix it in the next few days...

Saw one of these in the junkyard a while back... lets see if I can pull some pictures..... well almost 3 years ago... but here is the one I came across

There's one that sits behind my dad's house in his ready made private junkyard haha. I think the motor was good when parked. Pretty sure the trans went out and he parked it. I remember driving that thing like it was a rally car as a teen haha. Actually borrowed it when it was running to take my buddies snow skiing since none of us had anything 4wd or awd. I would love to build it into a sweet oveelanding rig. But my finances argue other wise haha.

Did something I thought I'd never do yesterday and got my first tattoo. I've been close a few other times but always chickened out or spent the money on other things. I'm going through a bit of a rough patch so I got a verse from an old poem on my chest to remind me to keep my head up. It's flipped so it reads correctly in a mirror.

Chest? How was that? I got some work on my ribs probably 15 years ago and I remember that being an awful experience lol. Made my whole ribcage rattle

I'll also say.. top of the thigh really sucks too 😣 I had a bit of a bigger piece done there about a month ago.. and it was an extreme relief when he was done drilling me with the color lol.

Tattoos are very much like firearms, bikes, fishing poles and project vehicles..

The proper amount to have is n+1, where n is the number of those you currently have 🙂 keep yer head up.

It wasn't bad, the sensation was more intense near the sternum but still not super painful or anything. It's just words so it was pretty simple and went fast. I've got plenty of natural insulation so my ribcage never felt a thing. I'm definitely thinking of another one, and more after that. I think it would be funny to get one of a troll doll under my armpit in just the right spot so it looks like the doll has hair.

Probably because of how I was raised, I was always pretty apprehensive about them but deep down really wanted one. Both my siblings have tattoos but I held back until now. I wish I would have just gone for it.

Better late than never!

Keep using the same artist.. as long as you like them and their work. I've been going to the same guy (now a good friend) for 16 years now.. so I get a monster discount on day sessions lol. I usually leave "only" 400$ poorer (including tip)... everyone else forks over a grand 😶

Pay in cash too..
