Became a '1911 guy'

Gave up an AK to get it but... it was one of those bastardized AKs that shoots 5.56 😣 blech. It was all covered in aluminum quad-rail nonsense too so.. good riddance 😋

I like my 1911s. The only AK a ything I have is a Chinese 12 gauge shotgun.

I became a Hi-Power guy recently... I have a 1911, a Chinese Tokarev and a Star BM - think that somewhat rounds out the Browning inspired handguns. Not sure which one I prefer. I think the 1911 feels best in my hand but the Hi-Power & Tok are easier to disassemble, and I think the Star is the easiest for me to shoot.

I would very much like one of those shotguns.. those seem like a lot of fun. What do you have for 1911s?

I wound up ordering a Rock Island Armory standard with a 3.5" barrel.. not their fanciest offering but not the 'base model' either. Black rubber grips (which will be swapped asap), skeletonized trigger & hammer, and adjustable trigger over-travel stop.

The shop I went to had a real deal GI Colt in the case which I was drooling over... too much $$$ for today though 😣 too big to want to carry too.. that one was full size. I figure the 3.5" won't be too difficult to conceal in my usual winter dress.

Nothing wrong with RIA. Mine is a Metro Arms "American Classic Commander"... so it's got the shorter barrel & slide. Also made in the Philipines. Really nice looking gun although I kinda wish it didn't have "American Classic Commander" engraved in huge letters on the slide.

My buddy has either a Springfield or Remington, don't remember which. It is a stainless model and a really nice gun but it gets awful dirty and shows every bit of it. Kinda understand why people go with blued or parkerized, mine doesn't look dirty all the time.

Kimbers in .45ACP IN 3", 4", and 5". Plus a Walther made Colt Gold Cup 1911 in .22LR.

i have a rock island armory 1911a1 in commander size. its a nice solid pistol that never misfires. and if you run out of ammo, you can cave in heads with it.

its the older version of this one.

Then later I went and visited a friend that gave me these:

I HATE when companies put their logo or whatever as big as they can, especially on firearms.

I almost ordered a stainless one.. couldn't bring myself to do it though lol. Might have mine done up with cerakote.. theres a handful of places local to me that do it.

Wooah Mr fancy pants over here 😋 jelous. There was a used Kimber micro-carry in their 1911 case that I really thought about picking up.. 700$ and looked like it just sat in a safe.. just a little too small. Wanted to get back into something bigger after carrying the LCP for so long.

**Got a 40$ under msrp on it though.. pays to shop local sometimes!

Oh, I didn't pay full price. I lucked out on a couple clearance sales for the 4" and 5". The store I bought them from doesn't typically cater to people who are willing to pay Kimber prices. They still weren't cheap but they were full retail either.

I don't use the 5" much since it has a steel frame. My back doesn't like the weight and it feels like I'm drawing a frigging long knife. It's amazing how much of a difference an extra inch of barrel makes for waist carry.

Not my gun, mine is blued but this is what annoys me. One off engravings like the state patrol one don't bother me one bit.

One of mine has a navel battle rolled onto the cylinder. Another has a Calvery battle.

I like that. :icon_thumby:
