What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

the guys i bike ride with complain about how windy it is here when the weather is warm. 25-30mph winds apparently make bicycle riding hard, they feel.

growing up in socal, the santa anna winds were windy and you couldn't ride your bike in them so this 25mph wind is nice and cooling, to me.

supposed to be 115 heat index today. and lawn needs mowing on top of all the cars needing fluids changed.

the weekend will be busy

The rain has been holding up as well. It’s a mixed blessing. I threw my back out. So it needs to heal but I also have a whole list of fluid changes that need done on both trucks. Mother Nature is making me sit.
Ouch, hate when I get my back or hip really mad. Thankfully I’ve managed not to do worse than pulling a back muscle lately. I’ve found a few things that help me, but they aren’t really options for you other than maybe quinine.

Probably going to give another go at the choptop today. AC condenser for it is supposed to be here today sometime, might wait until I have that before getting the radiator in.

A tail wind isn’t so bad. A cross wind can mess with you if the wind is gusting. A head wind just makes getting anywhere so much harder.

If it's the black flag mirrors I've had success by grinding the aluminum that's swaged around the spring plate by the ball then drilling and tapping the posts for a machine screw (or even sheet metal screw but they loosen). I need to redo the one on my '90 since it's floppy by about 40mph at this point...

‘87, they’re the chrome swivel-head mirrors that are on top of the bent aluminum arm.

The Road Ranger ‘97 has the ones you’re talking about. When I was converting it to the semi, I wanted to put tall mirrors like a semi on it. Thank God I still had the 93 for parts. I bet you I spent two days taking one of those plastic mirrors apart, trying to figure out how to use the base for a tall mirror. I never did figure it out and just put the mirror from the 93 on it. After all the effort, the original mirrors look perfectly fine to me!

I would like to have those mirrors on my 2001. How did you mount them and make them look good. I don't think I've seen your truck.

Well, after a bunch of poking at it, the choptop runs again. Drove it home from my buddy’s place so I’ll be giving it a good once over and she’s gonna pull DD duty for a bit. Gonna have to scrape together money for new tires soon though. These ones are a little less than stellar but they should do for now.

Man... if you were closer. The wheels/tires that came on the G-Unit are gonna be for sale. Damn tires still have nubs on them. Just old...

Finally got the PM on the 2011 all all done. Got everything put away before it started to rain again.

Used the '97 to move the HFT 20 ton press from the garage to the shop so I can start ripping apart the F350's transmission tomorrow... I used it to pull the carrier bearing from the F350 rear driveshaft tonight, had to use it wrong but it worked fine :). Gotta stop at HFT to get a bigger bearing splitter to work on the trans... I ordered a bunch of parts tonight, gotta figure out the clutch situation, gonna have to call South Bend in the morning...

1987 2.9 4WD, short short. The Missing Linc, I transgendered it into a Lincoln. I think the mirrors were stock. Nuts for the brackets were built into the doors.

The ‘97 Road Ranger semi has the plastic swivel mirrors. I wanted to put the tall mirrors like a semi has somehow into those mounts, but I couldn’t make it work.

What size are they?

33x12.50x15 Dick Cepek Fun COUNTRY II...

On 15x10 Rock Crusher wheels.

I'm getting my 2003 Ranger ready for a classic car show today, giving it a good detail job. I went last year. It was the only one there. Only a few really looked at it. Rangers are just Rangers to the public, especially in Saint Paul.

They were once assembled here. Many are still on the road, but they are a rapidly disappearing breed.
