What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

The details will get you every time...

Resistor installed on the 3rd brake light and it now stays off when the ignition is turned on. It's still to bright out to tell if the brake light in the dash is out now. That one has been on dim for a long time now.

replaced front control arms, tierod ends, also have new brake calipers rotor etc., removed froctory 2.5 engine mounts for v8 swap.
im a little confused as to which new ones to use tech section says 5.0 mounts, threads say 4.0 v6 mounts, or 65 mustang mounts? i have 99 2wd coil spring truck

Took the 2011 for two 3 hour drives with a break for several hours in between. The girlfriend is happily using the 2019 since her P.O.S. had the brake master cylinder take a sudden dump. Pedal went straight to the floor when trying to stop while backing out of the drive. Apparently yet another recurring issue with her vehicle in that general time frame. It is really looking like Nissan products need to be avoided based on what I've seen researching her previous transmission issue and now the master cylinder. They are having some real quality assurance issues over there.

Drove mine all week while the hhr was down. (fuel line leak near back tire, spraying gas on exhaust) Got a new line installed (“quick” disconnect,my ass!) and after checking things before taking it off the ramps found hole in exhaust-blowing towards the (now) plastic fuel line. So, take the ranger into town for some hose clamps, already have some flashing tin. Going to make a heat sheild. Has been nice driving the truck all week, Only use the car for work cause it’s better on gas (at least when it gets gas to the engine and not spraying everywhere under the car), has cruise control, and keeps miles off the ranger so it will last longer. Going to gas up truck today & wash it, might be the last nice day out for awhile.

Depends greatly on era of truck, pay attention to that.

Never heard 60’s mustang mounts mentioned before, many have used SN95 Mustang (same as fox body convertible) in 83-97 trucks. That is all I have heard mentioned for Mustang mounts in any era of truck.

Noticed a low tire on the rear of the '97 yesterday, found a piece of wire too close to the sidewall for a shop to fix so out came the plugs, pushed one in and aired it up.

Flushed brake system out with new fluid, not a clue how long it had been but probably enough years that I should be made to stand in the corner, LOL. Some of the bleeder screws were a sumbitch to get loose....

Drove the 2011 to the parts store to pick up coolant for the up coming belt tensioner replacement and brake fluid to bleed the brake lines on the girlfriend's P.O.S. after I replace the brake master cylinder. I'm really appreciating my longitudinally mounted engines in the trucks and really getting to hate that damn clown car.

put the bedliner back in.

AJ

Washed all of Floyd's windows so he would have a better view of me blowing leaves.

I blocked off 2/3 of the radiator with cardboard yesterday on the '97 to see if I could get the coolant temperature up any and get any heat out of it... The coolant temp got all the way up to 81C (about 180F) according to Torque instead of the 70C (about 160F) yesterday with a new Motorcraft thermostat a few months ago and hard to tell heat output since it was 20F warmer today than yesterday, but still no real heat output. The airflow is low through floor/defrost so maybe there's a mouse nest in the heater core... doesn't smell like it but who knows...

Time will tell on the heat, hopefully it's better than it was...

@scotts90ranger - yours a 2.3 lima? Ive had issues with every 2.3 Ive ever had getting temp up, with every new part I could buy. Blocking off rad helps, just watch it when it gets warm out, they will overheat- eventually.
