What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Fluid Filmed the '07, last good weather day I'm not busy.
Thanks for the reminder, sgtsandman, I need to treat my door and hood rubber before the freeze sets in.

How much did you use?

It takes about 5 cans, give or take to do a good job and get all the nooks and crannies. The 2019 takes a can or two more.

Looks way cheaper if you buy it by the bucket, like half the price per once if you buy a gallon or a third of the price if you buy five gallons.

Anyone use a spray gun?

It is if you have the equipment. I don’t have room for a compressor. There a bunch of different hoses with tips to do a better job than a rattle can will do.

I have no idea if one could make an electric sprayer do the job.

Roert,
I used 3 cans, still have to open up the door panels and tailgate access to get the bottom seams, so likely 4 cans. I got a sixpack for $50, same price as a 1 gallon can. If I had a lift, I'd invest in spray equipment, but the cans have a pretty strong spray, I can even saturate the rear wheel arches if I hit them from both sides.

Eric,
Smartazz answer: H20 phase change liquid>solid.
Practical answer: Tires are go slidey, roads are go NaCl. :ROFLMAO:

On rubber, I've tried ArmorAll, 303, other silicone based liquids, with poor results. I'm going to put a thin coat of Fluid Film on them this year while I have it out. It's Dirtman approved, he said "use it everywhere."

I'm fairly certain I couldn't live above the Mason-Dixson line. Either that, or I couldn't have a vehicle. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have the time to do the maintenance involved.:ROFLMAO:

It's mostly the midwest and northeast, it's only very select areas of Oregon, Washington and Idaho that use salt at all...

Around here, we wash our vehicles frequently in the winter. Back in the 80's, a 5 year old car was in pretty rough shape. Today, my 1995 Taurus looks better than a 5 year old car did in 1985. My six year old Honda Fit looked brand new when I gave it back to the bank.

For anyone looking to keep a vehicle any length of time around here, one needs to get their vehicle washed at any opportunity that the weather is above freezing for a decent amount of time. Preferably, at a car wash that has and under body spray.

Got a few deliveries

Ordered another 3rd brake light because the one I have turns on with the ignition. Being an LED with the board out in the open and the light leaked for a while cause issues with the board. I did seal it once I found it leaking but must of done the damage already. The new one has the board inside the black plastic case and is ment to be weather proof so with sealing it again I shouldn't have this issue again.

Yes I did LED again so it matches the taillights.... just waiting to get stopped for it being on constantly and trying to explain this one. Let's hope the officer will take the explanation and receipt as proof of it getting fixed asap.

so was finishing the 8.8 swap today, went to bleed brakes and im only getting a decent "squirt" after 3 or 4 attempts at pumping/ and opening bleeder.
master cylinder? booster? or still trapped air?

I took her for a drive, up to capital forest. Really tried out the 4 wd for the first time. Performed really well, definitely underpowered with the 2.3 compared to the 2.8, or 4.0 in my explorer. Carb went dry on this steep incline. Pics dont show truly how steep it was had to keep it in gear to prevent rolling off for this pic.

It sounds like there is trapped air. If you don't have one, get a brake bleeder kit and suck the fluid through. As long as you keep the reservoir filled, any air in the system should get pulled through. If that doesn't work, your master cylinder might be on the way out. Especially if you don't regularly flush your system every three years. There could be some corrosion in the master that chewed up the cylinder seal. This is assuming you let the pedal travel farther that it normally does during normal driving. The corrosion builds up just past the normal piston travel point.
