What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Installed the new front yoke and seal. Decided to pull the side steps off while it was on the lift. They need cleaning and painting, of course so does the rest of the truck. I may just leave then off, IDK.

Installed the rear sway bar on the 2011. I feel better about dropping the tank now since I had to move it to install the left end link.

I also installed the flag mount for the off road park trail ride meet.

Drove it to lake for a picnic lunch.

looked at it, thought about doing a deep wash and clean (possibly claybar...) but in the end, the bad wheel bearing on the Buick that I could now feel as well as hear while driving took precedence. That job wasn't as bad as I thought, and I didn't have to jump up and down on the breaker bar to break the hub nut loose like I did on both front wheel bearings on my old 1994 Intrepid way back in the day. The one gripe that I had was there wasn't much room to push the abs sensor plug through the knuckle next to the half shaft... had to push the half shaft in and to the side while my wife stuck the plug through. other than that, not to bad for a GM product. car drives much much quieter now.

maybe tomorrow or next week for the Ranger :(

Put a 10 hour day in yesterday working on the ranger. I was fabricating a bracket for the hydraulic clutch for the T5, an extention plate for the crossmember, engine and transmission in, exhaust reinstalled, rad, accessory brackets......

basically the entire truck was but back together.

If I had a shop like that I would rarely visit my house.

Yesterday I took it on a small drive and gave it a good bath focussing heavily on the underside to remove all that road salt from this winter.

Noticed I am getting paint chips from my cane when I am getting in so I need to put a protector on the rockers. Currently wondering if there is a clear adhesive film I can put over them to take the abuse instead of the paint. The chips are most likely coming from the door being shut by the wind on my cane.

You could try repairing the chips and using that blue plastic people put on their cars when they drive to shows.

Or this

Broke the tail housing on my transmission somehow. I went to replace the output shaft seal and one tug on the seal puller caused a chunk of the housing the size of a nickle to come off with the seal. I've never seen that before in my life. Had to be a casting defect. I welded the chunk back on for the time being since there's no chance I can get a new one from the junkyards for a while.

Finally found 2 doors for mine. Drivers door is decent and the passengers one is pristine, no rust ,dings or dents at all. Both doors are power and totally complete. Paid $80.00 for both.

What transmission is it?

Backed it out of its parking spot and squared it up to my banged up Pontiac. Used the Ranger's front ring to anchor my "come-along" and straightened the rear frame connector/brace. Still need to do a little massaging. Think a ratchet strap will get it then a pipe wrench and a 3lb sledge. Next is more hammering, cutting and hopefully welding some new metal. Got a real bad spot on the frame though. Hopefully I can weld it but not looking good.
Question, what color is that called on the truck in your pic?
