What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Congratulations!

Now you have a buddy to take to the next trail rides

AJ

I've already decided...

The G-Unit will be his.

Gonna be a few years before he's trailride ready.

Due to various reasons, I didn’t really get much done today. Pulled the carb off the Ferguson tractor and traced the backing plates for the disk brake 8.8 that’s going into the Ranger on some cardboard. Need to take a few precise measurements and note everything so there’s some templates if I ever need to try to make my own or if someone can fabricate them out of sheet metal.

What kind of parts are you looking for in the fuel tank?

Got my new thermostat housing in today, however while I was putting it in I crushed the wire for the knock sensor, and broke off one of the bolts. So I ordered a new OEM knock sensor and replaced the three bolts that hold the housing to the block.

I didn't realize until I had everything back together and I went to fill it up with coolant, about a gallon of coolant in the driveway now.

Nothing on the Ranger. Boiler was cold this morning and it took a bit of fighting with the manufacturer to get troubleshooting help.

“Are you a heating contractor?” Nope. “Licensed electrician?” Nope, PA doesn’t do electrical licenses. “Well, you’ll have to get someone else then.” Well, I’m a licensed general contractor… “Oh, we’ll who does your electrical then?” Me… “Well, we can’t help you, you need your heating or electrical guy.” That’s me. I want to talk to a manager… lol

Turns out 6 of the 8 heating elements are dead… fun fun.

Pa definitely does electrical licensing, but it’s not done at a state level, it’s done on the county level.
I wasn’t trying to get into that can of worms. If we really want to nitpick, Pittsburgh doesn’t accept the state contractor license, you have to get licensed in the state and the city of Pittsburgh to do work there. Some really crazy regulations some places here. I can, and do, all of my own electrical work both home and for jobs I do.

I’m legal to do the work I need to here and really, that’s all that should matter. I get that they could be worried some handy homeowner might hurt themselves or cause a fire or something, but I’m not, I’m a legit contractor. If I’m also the one that does all the work and comfortable with taking instructions and testing, then that should be adequate. I shouldn’t have to hire someone else.

Went down that Super/Pro rabbit hole.... Have to make it removable because we're also going to keep running in Pro.
