Nothing as I cant drive until October..I did go to a car show with a friend. Met Eric Estrada at the show the chp does alot of for charities.
Cool! Doesn't that man age? He looks like he did back when Chips first came out.

rusted connection between Y pipe & cat, had to get creative for holding while drilling bolts.

I 'll have to get some welding to build up the flanges, not enough metal left to seal the gasket.

the plan is to media blast to clean metal, build up with weld, then smooth it for a complete gasket seal.

Yesterday I made an emergency trip out to Albany NY. to fetch a power supply for my new PC build since my old one melted connectors and I just didn't trust it after that. Around 100 miles put on it. It was the closest BestBuy and no one around me carries what I needed.

Put a pa performance mini starter in and a kirban adjustable fuel pressure regulator. It's running better then even but I think that was the IAC and the whistle went away from the bbk throttle body after the IAC spacer went on

Replaced the stock fuel filter in my '02 3.0L 4WD Ranger XLT with a Wix spin-on filter mount and fuel filter. I will post pictures and details later.

This had been my Dad's truck and someone in the past had butchered the fuel lines eliminating the quick disconnects for either the pump supply or return lines; hence, my desire for a spin-on fuel filter anyway.

Despite all my planning and preparations, this turned out to be a 6 hour bitch of a job. The absolute worst of it was coupling in those miserable factory vinyl fuel lines. Whoever at Ford designed a truck with those vinyl fuel lines should have one coupled to their d***!

I exhaust my entire supply of epithets - and made up a few new ones - but at least this all works with no leaks!

Ok about 2 years ago I bought a used BFG 31" tire that was mounted on a late 80s Jeep Wrangler rim. Tire was 10 years old but quite a bit of tread left but was worn a bit uneven. 20 bucks for a full size spare with matching tread to the KO2's on the truck and I had a spare deer hoof rim. No one around here will mount a 10 year old tire for liability reasons soo it sat in my garage until today. I bought a harbor freight manual tire changer and had at it...

That was a huge pain in the ass. Tookme all afternoon fighting it to get the bead over the rim both removing the tire from the jeep rim and putting it on the Ranger rim. Especially putting it on... And yes. I used really soapy water as bead lube

Finally got it on the rim and was able to seat the bead easy enough. I pushed down on the top of the tire to seat the back side bead by hand and flipped the tire over to let gravity pull the outside bead close to the rim while I aired it up to let the rising air pressure seat the outside bead. Worked great.

It was this moment that I realized that had I seated the outside bead first I wouldn't have had to bend my wrist and arm in a very uncomfortable position ti air the tire up with the valve stem pointing down...

Still on the fence on whether or not to chuck this tire tool through the window of the harbor freight store that I bought it from. Maybe car tires are easier to deal with than truck tires

The hard plastic fuel lines are pretty much industry standard anymore because less hydrocarbons leach through, as with everything there's a tool for that... I'm with ya though, at work we use a Nelson Marine rated fuel hose that is normal hose but has a teflon liner on the inside that is MUCH easier to deal with... just don't jam the hose on a fitting blindly though, if that inner liner bunches up it's a jerk too :)

On the HFT tire changer, it could sure be designed better but I've used it several times with decent results, hardest part is breaking the bead on rusty steel wheels with the cheezy bead breaker on the thing... That said I have no idea how to use the goofy looking end of the bar and only used the duck billed end of the bar, works fine, I've used extra spoons to help though... way easier than using 3 spoons and a bead breaker chisel with a 4lb sledge...

After having used everything imaginable to break a bead what worked the best for manual breaking was a hi-lift jack under the hitch of my F-150. I’ve changed tires with screwdrivers, pry bars and tire spoons. Currently share a Coats 10-10 with my mechanic buddy. At some point we are trading up to a rim clamp machine. Mechanical methods are way easier.

I remember changing all four 33" tires on my Ramcharger with nothing but a 5 gallon bucket, a handful of pry bars, and a can of starting fluid... It took me an entire day but I did it...

I was a poor teenager and just spent an entire paycheck on tires, I didn't have the $40 to go get them changed by a tire shop. Drove around for 2 weeks before I could even afford to get them balanced. But I wanted my big tires on right now! My dad must have walked by me a dozen times while I was changing them that day simply muttering "you're an idiot" each time he passed. But I showed him what youthful ignorant stupidity can do! :icon_rofl:

Yesterday I cleaned up and organized stuff for my green Ranger project, couldn’t find some parts so I figured I’d clear away some of the stuff that didn’t need to be there. Took a wheelbarrow load of spare parts to my shed and cleaned up a few other things. Got irritated with the random boxes of hose clamps so I pulled out an empty Milwaukee organizer box and resolved that problem. Still missing some random parts though and I’m not sure why. Rear brake rotors, shoes, spring kit and calipers are all in a pile in the cab but no pads or hoses (was sure I bought it all at once). Was sure I bought two quarts of gear oil for the front axle but only found one. Just doesn’t make sense. I bought full synthetic gear oil and I have a 5 gallon bucket of regular gear oil so I wouldn’t have used it elsewhere. Brake pads and hoses only fit the Explorer rear that’s going in the Ranger and the Explorer I was going to use for parts that isn’t currently roadworthy, so…

Dont bother watering down the soap. I use full strength dish soap.
Yes, getting the bead over the rim is a pain. I lucked out and got 3 KenTools tire irons at a yard sale, those help...

Rotates tires, changed oil and built new upper rear brackets thar hopefully won't creak.

The regular tire lube is neat stuff, we used it a lot at my old job.

Yesterday I started installing the dash side wire harness for the 4.0, also installed the tcase controler incase I ever want it. Still need to decide what to do with the fuse block, and cut the hole for the BWP, I also installed the wireless start system. The fob will turn on the 4.0 harness, than the key will crank over the starter on the 83 harness. Will do more today once I'm not on baby duty.
