What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Used the 92 to fetch a new wheel cylinder, then installed it and bled the brakes. Of course, the axle seal on that side is leaking which I only found when I pulled the drum. So I guess that goes on he repair list. Also found a small crack starting in the frame, the one front spring mount is rotting and I have a bad front U-joint. :black_eye:

@Roert42 you will need to swap out the filler neck with one made for a style side bed. You may need to buy new in order to get a good one. Check out filler neck supply. It looks like they might have one that will work. It's out of stock but it will give you a part number you can try searching with.

I fiddled with the wrong wheels I got, they cleaned up pretty nice. I can get a set of 4 5x5 to 5x5.5 adapters for $83, & I have a couple heavy 5x5 axles in the shed of miracles, so maybe I’ll keep the 15s and use them on a trailer. The 14 deer hoofs go on craigslist (I now have 19 bullet hole 14s, eating peanuts).

& I fiddled with some more painting. 97 will be mostly safety red, and I did a couple test panels of red, adonized bronze and royal blue on the hood (its not like I’m going to screw it up!)

Thats the 14 steelie I’ll use as a spare on the 87 under the second coat of red on the grille support. & in case you haven’t figured it out, I use anything and everything that needs a coat of paint for my test panels. I.e. lug wrenches Yellow color coded to 1/2-20 lug nuts, pre war jack stands, 87 wheel hubs, etc. I made the tow bar in 1979/80, finally put some paint on it so it will last. Not sure I like the yellow, though.

Like everything else I own... she's a classic.

And cleaned up.

Described by the previous owner as having the longest leads in the county... Gotta be close to 50' lol.

I despise stick welding, but that old tombstone is what got me started in highschool. Those things are unkillable workhorses.

We ran them in high school too. Couldnt use the wire welders because us kids would just mess them up...

Like everything else I own... she's a classic.

That looks even a bit older then the one I own I left back in Michigan. But as already stated... a true workhorse that just keeps doing their job.

It will be nice to have when you need it around your place.

Got the filler neck attached to the new bed today. Surprisingly fit very well, all I had to do was shorten the rubber hose that goes from the tank to the filler neck. I would not be surprised if the only difference from the factory was the length/shape of that hose.

Aside from driving it, mouse #5 came out of the red 92 yesterday. We shall see what today brings

A couple things and a question:

First, does anyone know where I can get the little actuators for the front hubs on my 87 four-wheel-drive? I’m not even sure what they’re called. I can find the whole hub, but all I need is that little red piece that you actually touch with your fingers. I took mine off to clean them up and paint the hubs and them, and they’re half worn out. They have a pentagram insert I can’t match, so if I can’t find any I‘m thinking of building them up with the superglue/baking soda trick.

Otherwise, today, my rear axle seal and bearing came in, waiting on the gasket. My old knees, I want to do it all at once. I was painting those metal hubs, and the center caps that go over them, I did another coat on the grill support, third, it should be the last, and continued to do my test colors on my jack stands & tow bar etc. I painted the tow bar chains, also first time after 41 years. I also did a little white paint on two little lamps for the redhead’s granddaughters, that’ll be a fun little project. (The lamps, not the redhead, 🤔 well, both).

Have you tried Warn for the actuator knobs? (I don't know what they're called either)

Floyd got an airing in the 50+ sunshine day warmed him up good and put a few miles on.

If you can stand the smell moth balls work pretty good at keeping mice out of vehicles. Stick one in the air cleaner box and one in the glove box and one under the carpet.

Put a new carb on my weedeater. $12 delivered to my door. Carb, lines, filters, spark plug. Took about 15 minutes to install and started first pull.

My Dad was stationed in Alaska when he was in the Army in the mid 60s. the running joke there in the summer was that they saw a plane come into the grass strip next to the base and they would have a fuel truck half way out to meet it before they realized it was a mosquito.

Picked up more wood at The Home Depot with the 2011 in preparation for building an extension on the car port. Two Rangers are longer than a Ranger and a compact SUV. Things are poking out now that shouldn't be.

I can't drive so technically I didn't do anything to it, but I had my friend borrow it and the first thing he does when he gets in is spill my leftover can of soup i had sitting on the floor! Why can't someone invented a spill proof can of soup!?

Fortunately it was not clam chowdah this time, it was italian wedding.
