What did you do to your 2019 and up Ranger today?

I need to have you show me how to do that.

There is a QD for a hose right before the throttle body that I pulled and sprayed into. I'm not entirely sure how well it will work since I had difficulty rigging something to keep the RPMs up. Damn drive by wire system didn't have anything for me to manually operate in the engine compartment that I could see. It did do a nice job of fogging up the street though before I shut the engine off for the 10 minute heat soak and after I started it back up after. The computer wasn't happy for a little bit. The CEL flashed on a couple times before I shut the engine off for the soak. It didn't come back on after the restart nor during the drive to pick up my girlfriend's daughter from Youth Group.

BTW I can drop off your gas cannister. Only used it once.

Tuesday I'll be home in the evening. The rest of the week isn't good and I go to play with rattle snakes this weekend. Next week might be better.

Rattlesnakes is goes vroom.

Installed the tailgate damper. It's a running joke at Ranger5g.com so I shot video to post there.

Took the Ranger to Windrock. Got a little wheel scuffs but had a blast. Better half drove the shit out of the SxS.

I never understood the whole tailgate damper thing. To each their own but what is the big deal?

From what I gather, it's too hard to lower the tailgate manually lol. I don't get it either.. as it's light enough to get shut with a pinky finger.

I’ve heard two main arguments. 1. If a little kid try’s to open the tailgate, it prevents the tailgate from falling down too fast and snaking them in the head.
2. If you are trying to open it while holding stuff, you just pull on the latch to unlock it and it opens itself. In this instance I suspect there is some kind of cover and you can’t just set the stuff in the bed.

I have no use for one, but those are the arguments I’ve heard.

I always wondered what the point of those things was... then I realized they are actually pretty useful for the reason @Roert42 described. When your holding a bunch of crap you can just pull the handle and the tailgate drops by itself instead of needing to be lowered by hand to prevent it from slamming.

1. First gens have a little kid opening deterrent built in. If you want to open one you really have to mean it, little kids need not apply.

2. Modern truck beds are shoulder high or higher for a lot of people.

Im surprised we as a species even managed to survive the amount of years that tailgates had been a thing before the damper came along.

Marketing is a powerful drug lol. I wonder when the glove box damper is gonna hit the market..
