I was looking at dashes and noticed that some 91's had the same looking dash as mine, was looking for a 92-94 explorer one, but, am ready to try a ranger one. I was thinking cutoff was 92-94 on rangers, for a 94 ranger. Will a 91 fit and have the correct wiring, not like a 88 or something older. I know it will actually fit but was wanting to hook up cruise and a/c in my truck. Thanks for any help.OH, did 91 rangers have bucket seats and a center console? I was thinking someone put all that stuff in there, no air under the hood, blower wasn't set up with a place for an evaperator, no condinser,no a/c pump. looked nice but someone smashed it already so will still have to keep checking the junk yards.

Will a 91 2.3 be wired the same as a 94 with a 2.3? I ask because wiring is really hard for me, I'm color blind but can make out different colors just almost impossible with dirty small strips of color.

Do you need a new harness, or just the dash?

The harness unbolts off the back of the dash and can be swapped in 10 minutes when the dash is out.

I was wanting to install a/c so from what I understand you need the dash with the vent doors set up for a/c. My dash is cracked though, so if I can find one that is better then I will. I found one at the junk yard but didnt get it because it was a 91 and I wasnt sure it would work. I hope it is still there. I am going to try to get it this saturday.

There is NO reason to change out the dash to retrofit factory air.

The only parts you need to swap out is the HVAC control panel and the length of wire from it to the switches under the hood and A/C relay in the fusebox.

You MAY (but I'm not sure) need to change out the interior side of the firewall HVAC box, but this is NOT "The Dashboard"

The reason you may need to chage it is because the vacuum controlled vent doors may operate differently

What needs to be changed is the ENGINE side "Firewall box" and that is only held into the truck with FOUR nuts.

Three of those nuts are in the engine compartment the fourth is on the interior side of the firewall near the fuel inertia cutoff switch.

MY truck was not factlry air, but it is now, but I had it "Easy" as all my control doors are operated by push-pull cables...

ok, I am willing to try. I am thinking the only thing in the engine compartment is the blower , I changed mine to the one that has the evaporator . I may have to look to see if there is something else??? I am guessing the wire goes from the switch, then to the a/c relay. I am wondering if there is a clutch wire hiding in my wiring harness? I put the a/c blower control in also. Thanks for the info.
