My 99 Ranger XLT is purple in the sun and blue in the shade...can anyone tell me the name of this particular color? Thanks in advance

I would go with purple. Lighting changes everything. But I would say that the color you see in bright sunlight is most likely the color it is.

There are some strange paints out there. We painted a trial color a few days ago at work, that looked metallic green at one angle and copper at another angle in the same lighting. Sort of a Doppler effect of Paint color. Don't remember what it was called. In another year or two, we will be able to offer well over 200 colors of factory paint on cars painted at our plant.

There is a sticker on the door jamb, you can look up the paint code and find out what the name of the color actually is.

Welp it's in the shop having the oil pan gasket changed....It's upwards 700 so far.....however you are correct.....pics help
700 bucks to change a pan gasket?

Damn.

That's what I thought.....but the engine has to be lifted on mine and other stuff moved.... they're saying it's an 8 hour job....I'm a bit suspicious....

Honestly....their probably right.

I just am used to my mechanics cheap ass labor rate and the cash discount he gives me lol.

What size engine

Mine is a 4.0l with manual 4x4 transmission motor had to be lifted and the transmission had to be pulled.. Still only took about 2.5 hours to complete.

Mines a 4×4 and it's an XLT...the year 99 not sure about what size engine

Without seeing a picture, or knowing the vehicle history, I'd guess that it is a purple that is fading from UV damage, or that someone at some point had it re-done in Mystichrome, which can be purple, blue, or green, depending on the angle and lighting it is viewed in.
