hey, iv got a d30 in the front of my 84 ranger and the coils i am currently using arent preforming off road as well as id like... i dont know what they came from, just had em laying around the shop and they fit right... what are you guys using for coils? id like to keep about a 4 inch lift. any input is greatly appriciated!

probably around a 5.5 inch Jeep Cherokee lift coil...

what's your complaint with the coils you have? to stiff? are they TTB coils?

if I were you, I'd call Rough Country and find something for an XJ

Mine have very little flex, would the coils you are talking about have the small end like a stock cherokee spring? If so I'd have to cut that off

Mod your coil buckets as needed.. cutting off any coil is gonna make it stiffer.

Is that worth the work for xj springs? Or do you know of any without a small end? Cause I'm using the stock ranger and stock jeep mounts so I'd like to keep it that way if possible

Xj coils are worth it IMO. they are probably the flexiest to use... Sure they might take some work to make them fit but it's worth it.

PM escort_gts about his springs. He had early bronco deavers and then switched to xj's. He has a d30 swap in a ranger.

Alright, I'll do that, 4 wheel parts probably has the coils you are talking about right?

yes, but you can probably get them cheaper elsewhere

Also I read your build thread, sick b2!

thanks, I almost did the d30 SAS but decided this on would stay more of a DD/WW...and wait to do the SAS on a real off road rig.

i'm using 4.5" XJ coils on my D30 and modding my coil buckets to make them fit.

i'm going for 3"-4" of lift.....i have a 2.9 in my b2, so it's what, 3 pounds heavier than your 2.8? lol so figured they should work just fine. if i need more height, i'll just some spacers and run them.

you can look at my build thread to see how i'm modding my buckets, or check out stang's build here:

stang has done several D30 swaps, so just do what he does and you should be fine, lol

awesome, ill definatly check yours out, thanks for all the help

Im running 6.5XJ coils on mine and I got 5 inches of lift. Im running the ranger buckets but will be changing alot in the future, right now Im focusing on my v8 swap.
