My 2.8 Carb
To Stay at high RPM's

Im going for the rebuild kit today soak it over night...

But im worried its something larger?
Let me know?

It Sputters like crazy and when i come to a stop its still reving up like im in 3rd gear... The RPMs never drop...

When i put it in gear it gets a little quiter but jeezzzzz

any suggestions?

Vacuum leak. Ceck for hoses and rubber caps. The 2.8 has almost as many as the 4.0 that can leak.

Could be the carb not bolted down tight as well.

Ok cool

I was told to check PCV it may be clogged...

But Vac Line, PCV And im taking carb off today anywhoo.. so it will all be replaced and rebuilt...

The throttle part mayeb be tweaked though...
If you know the carb there is a tab on the throttle for when you let off the throttle the tab looks like its supposed to hit this pin thing i dont know what it does...

is it supposed to hit?
or go by it?

and how do you get the left diaphram thing to suck in adjusting the butterfly... it seemed like it wasnt moving...

I dont know..

You may also have some bent linkage or linkage that isn't connected right.

It's the idle solenoid. Unplug it and remove it. Convert to duraspark.
