I said Explorer... what are your plans for the truck? Like tire size, lockers, etc....

I say go with the built explorer if it's gonna be a daily driver. Full width axles can be a pain on the street. Also illegal in some states if the tires are sticking out too far.

when you buy already built rigs.. you sometimes risk the bad side of them.. i put down d44 and d60

its tire size will be dictated on my axle choice but atleast 35s,im not sure if the is a law on tires sticking out?there are alot guys down here w/ tires sticking way out.

as for lockers I'd like a detroit in the rear w/ a true trac up front

im leanin more towards the D44 & D60

i know in oregon you can't have your tires sticking 4' or more out from your fenders. not sure about the other states.

who ever said d44 TTB and 8.8 should be slapped.

d44 and d60 OR d35 and 8.8

86

I wouldn't use a D60 rear in anything myself unless it was 35 spline (few are).

i would do a d44 ttb front and 9 inch(with some work) if i were you, i like ttb and 9 inches tho

Throw some rockwells off a front-end loader under there, j/k. I'm gonna say go with the exploder axles, it's been done thousands of times and is a (mostly) drop-in affair.

Just my .02

Explorer axles. You'll be done in a weekend and won't have to think.

I kinda liked the Dana 44 coil front and 8.8 rear. Thats the setup cheepthrillsBII was running and it worked great.

for 35" tires id go with the 44/60 combo, because I've broken diff gears with just 31s in my 8.8. there is also a better aftermarket for this combo and depending on the years of the axles you can get parts anywhere. Also if you run full widths with centered backspaced wheel, it is just as wide as the 8.8 with a deep offset with the same size tires. You also should check and see if your state has regs for mudflaps because that will be a pain depending on final tire size and lift.
