With 166,000 miles on my 2002 4WD Ranger XLT and a new Jasper 3.0L engine, I'm thinking I should go ahead and rebuild or replace the automatic transmission. I plan on taking this Ranger with me to the nursing home.
My shop is recommending a Jasper rebuild since they do not fully trust the local transmission shops. I'm for this but wondering if perhaps the newer Rangers offer a better choice in automatics? Not that I have had any issues with this original 2002 automatic but am wondering.
