Don't get louder, improve your argument.
So these are on my father's truck I inherited and I have no idea what they are or how to take them off. They looked cracked so I could probably chip them off.

Those are the rubber baby buggy bumpers. They keep idiots who can't park from dinging up your cab corners. You can take them off, but I don't know what it will do to the paint underneath.

Probably would take the paint with them if they were removed. At least that's what happened to the guy that bought my 84 Ranger that had a Stockland camper shell on it that hadn't been removed since the truck was bought new in 84. Took the paint right off the bed rails, seals on that camper shell were great it never leaked, even if you went through a carwash with it...can't say that for the shells that are made today they leak all over the place.

I think it they are more for protecting the leading edges of the b pillar and bed from gravel and other road debris.

Mine were like a somewhat thick clearish plastic that had yellowed, cracked and gotten dirty over the years. I removed mine with a 3M rubber "stripe removal" wheel and heat gun. Then hit the residual glue/junk with Goo Gone and then did a cleaner wax on it and you'd never know they were there. Did the same (minus the heat gun) for my old and cracking pinstripes all the way down the side of the truck. Of course this was on my 2003 that has about 132,000 miles on it.

I've gotta get one of those rubber wheels. I've got a factory pin stripe sticker I want to get rid of. It's cracked and ugly.
