it does correlate to your rep score. see http://www.caraudioforum.com/showthread.php?t=332779
i have approximatly 3500 rep points there and the more points i got the more greend dots i got
I think your bars thing is relevant to how many people have added reputation to you IE "rep score" and the rep POWER is a combination of both that and your overall post count.
@Topher: Dude, slow down. You are gonna out rep RSH soon at this rate.![]()
Here, check this thread out. We had quite a conversation figuring it all out, but I think we got the system nailed down pretty well.

EDIT: Completely forgot the link!!!
I dunno if you read the whole thing, but we got rep score, the visible pips, and rep power all figured out pretty well by the end of it.

Best as I can figure is that your visible rep power is most closely related to how often you give rep to others, and not at all to your visible pips in your profile. Post count and length of membership have to figure in somehow too, but membership time has to have very little effect on the equation since I've been here just about 18 months and my rep power is twice what Jim has.
The dots are your visible representation of how reputable you are. They are linked to your rep score on your User CP. You get another pip for each 100 points other people give you.
So that would give you five hundredish points correct?
Well, if you hover your cursor over the pips you get a little message. Those change at intervals of 50, then 100, then more after a certain point. At 650 my "hover over" message will change to something new, but then it won't change again until I hit 1000 points.
My rep is actually closer to 600 by now, but yes, my visible pips show a score of between 500 and 600.
the dots are the volume that each user has their pc set on, it's weird tho, they only seem to get louder![]()
Yea i've noticed the little messages for a while I belive the first person I saw with a ungodly amount of rep point and bips or what ever was AllenD for obvious reasons.![]()
