What are some solid shocks to run

I am currently doing some maintenance on my 2003 4x4 Ford Ranger. And it’s time to replace the shocks. I do have a mid travel kit in the front and 35s all around so the truck is fairly off-roady and lifted although the back is stock I’m looking to replace the strut with something a little more performance/off-road. I know this isn’t gonna make a crazy difference or make the Truck crazy capable, but does anyone have any recommendations on some solid shocks considering I will thrash the car

So, I recently went and tried out some Rough Country N3 shocks in my Choptop and I’m pretty sold on their performance. Way better than anything else I’ve ever run on it, being a lifted truck on 35’s.

Looks like RC fronts for yours with 4.5-5.5” lift are PN: 23211-A

Matching rear would probably be PN: 23210-H

You may have to verify your compressed and extended lengths to be sure. RC shocks are sold as a pair, not singles like most other shocks.

Are you looking for rear shocks? That's my impression here?

For normal shocks in that application I think Fox, Bilstein or KYB would be hard to beat.

OK, awesome thank you for the information. I think both of my shocks are from factory so there’s one that’s blown and I might as well replace the other one while I’m at it being they are on mile 120,000. And thanks for the information I knew I couldn’t just get ones that are for stock ford rangers because mine is lifted and changed a bit so I appreciate you even providing the part numbers. Thank you.

I had KYB on the rear of my Choptop and they were better than OE style shocks (the Monroe/Gabriel/Guardian/etc stuff), but I was so impressed with the RC shocks I put on the front that I replaced my KYBs, lol

Yes just the rear ones ideally ones that just work a little bit better than OEM. I know I have to do a lot of building to the back to make it comparable with all that I’ve done to the front however, that’s for later on so right now I’m just trying to replace the blown ones on the car.

I took the recommendation and got the RC 23210-H
