So here's the deal...
My 2000 Ranger came equipped with the heavier GVW from the factory. Because of that I ended up with the larger front disks and the 10x2.5" drums with rear abs. That's fine with me because I use the truck like a fullsize.
BUT, lately it doesn't seem to have the braking power it once did.... As far as I've been able to determine so far, it's not with either caliper or drum. I'm suspecting either the master cylinder or the brake booster as the culprit. I've had problems related to those two before and never did anything about it because it seemed to go away on it's own and was a random problem anyway.
So now I'm thinking that I'd rather just replace both and be done with it, but if I do that I'd like to upgrade to something better and/or more powerful. I know that with the Bronco IIs you can swap to an Explorer brake booster to get better braking, but I'm not sure if that also applies to my Ranger or not.
Suggestions?
