What am I looking at here?

Hello folks, long time no ranger. I sold my 85 a couple years ago, but I got the itch again, I want another 4x4 Ranger...

I've found a 1990-91 through a friend for cheap. He is looking at scrapping it, so I figure I'll save it. He damaged the front axle pretty bad on the driver side while wheeling, I only have one picture of it right now. I know I'll need the axle shaft and hub assembly, and maybe a brake caliper. What else can you guys see from the pic (if anything) that I'll need? I'm just trying to get an idea...

Can't really see much in that pic...

Worst case you'll have to replace that side of the axle assembly (or beam) with junkyard parts (most likely you'll be able to reuse the differential itself on the new assembly though). I kindof doubt the shaft itself is bad though (usually they break if they're damaged, but I see what looks like an intact axle hanging out there)

Check the radius arm and it's frame bracket too, they've been known to bend occasionally in a hard-enough impact.


That truck looks waaayy too clean to send off for scrap. Glad to see it getting rescued from an uncaring owner.
