Hello, my name is Matt, and this is my first post here.

I bought my 1988 Ranger in April 2014 for $300, barely running. Now, it runs strong and has gotten me where I need to be for a while. As you can see by the pics below, the Danger Ranger isn't in the best of shape. The last owner was real hard on it. It has a worn camshaft, which I plan on replacing soon.

Here are the pics (Ignore the cup on the bumper in the second pic):

Already, people in town know me by my truck, since it's the only '88 Ranger in town, and the paint is easily recognizable. I want to know what kind of accessories I should get for it. I'm not looking for anything crazy for it, just something that makes it look cool for not a lot of money.

Thanks,
Matt

As for Accessories ... that depends on what you want to do with the truck.

Could start by fixing a few items. Like the headlight assembly and grill. Probably why everyone in town knows you. Your headlight is aimed at the face of oncoming traffic. LOL. A fender and a new seat or seat cover and that thing will start looking pretty good .

I agree. I fix the basics before I usually throw to many upgrades at it. I would fix the grill/Fender.

How much would the grille and fender set me back? I doubt I would be able to find a fender that matches the one on there now. I actually have a plain red fender on the passenger side, same shade of red, but without the stripes.

As for the seat covers, I have looked everywhere for the right kind, but can't find anything that fits.

Tons of parts at lmc...(located in Lenexa Ks.)

Or you can find someone with parts off a old ranger sitting around to buy or barter for.
Check out our area:

or craigslist etc...

Yeah your not going to match the stripes. You gotta love 80's era paint schemes. LOL
You might find another red fender off a parts truck. If you cant you can always "spray bomb" the truck to desired color.

check out craigslist for parts trucks. Do a wide area search you will be surprised at how many parts trucks are out there. Go to a junk yard that has the national search system and ask them to locate the parts for ya. For the seats unless you need a bench go for some bucket seats out of something else. Ask and folks can tell ya what will fit. Look in the tech section here also on this site.

Darn...that left headlight is searching for Squirrels in the trees….lol. I had owned two first gen Rangers and Bronco 2’s and I really loved them. They are great looking trucks and easy to maintain. Less modern crap to have to play with when you want to upgrade performance or correct a stupid idiot light when it come on!!! You can get all kinds of nee goodies just about anywhere. Better head lights/bulbs. Different seats if you want to swap them out. Light bars/off road lights, bumpers. Wheels and tire swaps. Ebay has a lot great stuff. I have bought all kinds of goodies for my trucks and Jeeps and never had any issues with anything I bought. Search Google for where to get body parts and a lot of places sell new and used parts for the Rangers.

If you are a taller guy you won't like buckets...

My 87 had the '9R' paint code. Which was called 'Shadow Grey Metallic', Which was really dark grey with a hint of purple and metallic. And it had red pinstripes, painted on, not tape. I just figured it was factory done, but someone at a body shop I drop parts at, told me that was always done by someone that the dealer hired to come in and do it.

Matched the red interior and looked great with all the chrome and black trim.

Plan on getting seat(s) instead of seat covers. The driver's side looks really worn. The truck looks nice overall & decent project to start-
