What’s for dinner tonite!

No pics, but grilled brats and onions on the flat top. Mom made the family recipe German potato salad. We also have a family recipe for the regular potato salad. I’d gladly eat both types of potato salad a couple days a week if I could. Store bought potato salad tastes like paste to me. I’ve only met one person in my life that could make a potato salad on the level of these that wasn’t part of the family.

I'm eating a family size banquet Salisbury dinner.

I tried making a Mac & Cheese cup for the microwave and it was a disaster.

I followed the instructions to a T.
I think that was my biggest problem.
The water boiled out the cup.
Luckily the rotating dish in my microwave has a lip on the edge of it so it caught the water.

I truly understand that meal for sure @Bill .

As usual I find the best place to eat on the last day of a trip. If you are going to DC, will be near the Wharf District, and not looking for something fancy I can recommend this place. Only food pics I took this week.

Couple of barges located right on the Potomac. They sell fresh seafood and cooked. I got fried shrimp, but they also had a bunch of other options. If I knew about this place at the beginning of the week, I'd have probably eaten here most nights. If I lived here I'd be a regular. Wish we had something like this back home, but even in middle GA were too far away from the coast for that.

Will be a repeat customer if I ever come back to DC.

Never got to the Lincoln Waffle House I mentioned. Was tired of walking and didn't sound like the theater tour was worth the visit this time around. Maybe next time, would like to come back and tour MT Vernon when they have the house fully open and not under renovations.

I didn't know we were poor when I was growing up. I remember coming home after school and making a mustard and ketchup sandwich to tide me over until mom got home from work. It was better than nothing...

@alwaysFlOoReD I truly relate to that.
However I don't think we was really poor.
I think my parents just didn't manage money very well.
My dad had a well-paying job.
He also had a lot of debts from gambling problems before I was even born.

So I guess we really where poor because of my Dad's problems before I was even thought of.

I was always allowed to eat what's in the refrigerator when I got home from school.
Until one time I made three big cheeseburgers out of some ground beef that my mom was planning on using for supper when she made spaghetti and meatballs.

After that anything that was on the top shelf in the refrigerator I wasn't allowed to eat.

I made my fair share of ketchup mustard and mayonnaise sandwiches however.
Then one time we went to Arby's cuz they was having a 5 for 5 and my brother Patrick stole three of the big jars of Arby's sauce that was on the tables inside the restaurant.
The Arby's sauce then became my go-to for putting on bread to make sandwiches.

Chicken fajitas. I marinated the chicken with lime juice and seasonings a few hours before tossing the chicken in a skillet. It came out better this time. I added some black beans and sour cream to the fajitas.

I had the remaining black beans in a bowl and one of my cats had that for dinner. I hope it doesn't give him gas because .....kitty farts are lethal.
