What’s for dinner tonite!

Ya know... I made the beer potatoes as a tribute of sorts to my dad on Father's day. He's been gone for about 25 years now. He grilled often and most everything he grilled had beer involved.

He would chunk up potatoes into 1 inch chunks. He would cut up whole carrots (I just use packaged baby carrots). Also a half onion cut into quarters. He would season with garlic salt and lemon pepper. He would put it in a foil packet... but before closing up the second end... dump in about a half can of beer... then seal it up. He would toss the packets right on the coals for about 15 minutes. Then flip the packets and set beside the coals. Punch a couple holes to let the beer steam out. He would leave them there until whatever else he was making was done. The key is to take them almost to burnt. You want the sugars from the beer to darken... it leaves a sticky kinda sweet glaze. He always drank Busch beer... so I bought a 24 ounce can. Used half for two packs of potatoes... then drank the other half while grilling.

Boiled Ham, Cabbage, mushrooms, potato, onions, eggs, and jalapeño. I left the water so I think that makes it soup.

my wife refuses to late me boil vegetables. Says it kills any flavor.

She’s out of town this week. I told he I was boiling vegetables and there was nothing she could do about. Not even adding any seasoning. :p

I'm gonna have to agree with your wife. I'm not big on boiled vegetables. Exception is boiled dinner.

Your wife leaves... you eat vegetables

My wife leaves... I go for cheeseburgers

I need to do that. I even bought the fixings yesterday.
For supper I cubed up potatoes and mushrooms. Nuked a corn on the cob inside its leaves then peeled it and put in with the potatoes and mushrooms to get some char. Turned out pretty good.

Yesterday I splurged on pizza. Went to a new to me place. Entry was from the back alley in downtown Calgary. Real prosciutto, real pineapple , real jalapenos. It was top notch!

I have the worst refrigerator deli drawer in the world...

Yeah... that's a lot of hummus.

That's just gross.

My wife makes hummus with crushed red pepper and garlic. I could just stand in front of the fridge and eat a bowl of hummus and loaf of bread for dinner.

We agree Robert... I eat it everyday now.

We pretty much eat a tub of it everyday.
