Welp. It’s 3 in the morning. And I’m ready to hit something

So as many of you know. I’m moving from Long Island to Florida. So I left 4 hours ago. To tow my Dakota down. With my f150. Leave them both down there. And fly home.

I get 3 hours into the trip. And I feel a shudder. Then a loud boom! I get out to inspect. The dakotas rear rim broke in half. Shredded all the lug nuts. And flew off the truck. Leaving just the tire. And half the drum.

So now I’m waiting for AAA to pick this up. And tow it to the closest shop. Where I’m probably going to tell them to keep the truck and do what they want with it.

It’s going to be a hell of a long night

Your guess is as good as mine. I inspected all the lug nuts before I left and they were all torqued properly. Such a freak accident.

And of course my insurance doesn’t cover anything while I’m towing. So I had to pay 100 bucks for a truck to get me off the side of the road. And I’m waiting outside a tire shop hoping they will sell me a cheap rim and tire. And some studs so I can get home.

That sucks. Good luck with all that. Hopefully you found a shop that cares about people and will do the right thing instead of the most costly thing. get some pics of it. i'd like to see that.

and here I've been testy because the dog was restless all night and kept me awake. Sorry about your troubles, middle of the night breakdowns suck!

That sucks!
I had a f150 rim split off part way along the bead seat. It kept losing air.... I'm glad it didn't do like yours!

Uhaul wants 600 for a 1 way rental. That’s why I was using my dolly

I got the truck towed to a local tire shop. I gave it to them. Wasn’t worth my time or hassle to fix.

I’m moving to Sebring Florida to be exact

Well I made it home safely. So I think it’s finally time to buy a trailer and sell the dolly

Had a jack. And a 4 way. No rim for the Dakota. No wheel studs. And no lug nuts. So I was in quite a pickle.

put the dead side on the dolly...haul on.

He lost all the wheel studs on the corner that came apart.

I am far from an expert in such matters, but I have always had trouble putting wheels back on without studs. It's one of the reasons I try to stay away from European cars.
