The ranger is on it's last leg (well, it's last leg is bleeding profusely so to speak, and I'm not a doctor.) so I have been looking for a new-to-me truck to ram around in for a few weeks. I may sell it at the end of that time or I may keep it. I was originally going to get a rusted out but low mileage 1997 Ranger but the guy sold it while I was working so I lost the deal on that one. I was going to part it out on here and make a buck when I was done anyway, at least it might stay alive a few more years in someone elses hands. Then I found this little bugger and decided to check it out.
That is from the owner, I am going tomorrow to pay for it and pick it up. I am not paying the 1000, and will see how low I can talk them down. If I can get them to drop 100 by removing the stereo I will, as I don't need it. I still can back out if it has bad frame rust.
Hopefully, if all goes well, it will be in my driveway around mid day or in the PM. I know a guy that may be willing to trailer it (DMV is closed and I work all week) for 50 bucks or so.
I am not sure as to the extent of the body rust. It has consumed the tailgate and rear half of the bed in the pictures and has started on the front. If the frame is good, I will take it. Otherwise I may walk. I am definitely throwing on a wood tailgate or net, and if the rust is bad enough I might just take the bed off entirely and run a flat deck. I would rather keep the bed on and try to make it look halfway decent so I can resell it later on. If it runs good enough I might keep it over the winter and drive it when I sell my car.
I've never drove stick either, so this is going to be my learning vehicle as well.
The current plans (if I keep it) are to fix or tear down the bed, pick up a rear and front bumper, and swap stereos. I will also clean it up and touch up the rust spots best I can with some paint. I won't be doing anything major to it as I don't plan on keeping it longer than a month or two, just need to make it look pretty for the re-sale.
Oh, and my girlfriend is going to HATE this truck.
$1,000 or best offer.
Details:
1990 Mazda B2600i, 4x4 (fuel injected)
Engine, tranny, clutch all in great shape.
4x4: 4H, 4L, 2H, all work great, no leaks in differentials or transmission, electronic locking hubs.
Registered and inspected. Driven regularly.
This has been a work truck, and sometimes a daily commuter vehicle.
It runs great and gets good mileage: 20-24 mpg, city/hwy, depending on conditions.
I've checked the mileage at almost every fill-up since I bought it four yeas ago, and it's never changed. It just keeps running.
Everything works great on this truck, lights, brakes, all in great shape.
I've had this truck since 2006, done regular maintenance, oil changes brakes, belts, flushed fluids, routine maintenance.
There is some body rust, but mostly cosmetic.
Includes a bed liner and trailer hitch with receiver.
Tires are good, and still have plenty of life. (225/75R15) Alloy rims.
New stereo, USB, mp3, iPod, Aux inputs, and 4-way speakers.
Double sliding rear window w/lock.
Other than a little body rust, this truck is in great shape.
The worst of the rust is on the tailgate. But the hinges are still strong. I took some additional photos this morning (9/25)
