IMHO, the 1989 in manual form is the best suitor for a car you want to mod. They have the A9L computer, and mass air. Both respond very well to mods. If you plan to keep it stock, the 87 and 88 cars seemed to have just a bit more "oomph", but have speed density which doesn't like heavy mods such as cam, head, etc. changes. I strongly suggest you steer clear of the AOD cars just because they are gutless down low.
