:sad::sad::sad:well I would like to introduce myself as the guy who doesn't have a ranger no more.
it was totalled last fri morning. the damages don't look that bad outside but it twisted the cab about an inch on the left and it was hit on the right.
no injuries but the truck will cost too much to fix plus I don't have a place to do it.
sometimes you just want to wring your kids neck and this is one of those times. sigh:sad:

the heart of a truck never dies. buy a blown ranger and a straight body and swap everything over

Well, that is sad...but anything can buff right out on a Ranger...if I was closer I'd offer to come over and relieve you of your carb and intake setup...

Did you get to keep the truck or was it written off by the insurance?

You put so much work into it I would hate to think that you had to let it go to the...the....UH, I can't even say the word...

Glad nobody was injured though...sounds like my old Dodge Ramcharger...got T-boned by an old guy rushing his wife to the hospital...never quite ran the same after that...

koa-I would love too rebuild it but I don't have a place to do it.
Mark- the truck still drives fine but the door won't shut all the way and the panel gap on the drivers side is about an inch so the cab is twisted.
I would like to find someone who would buy it and fix it. if not I am going to pull off the parts that are valuable like the smoothed bumpers, maybe the bed,the stereo, wheels and tires and junk the rest cause other than the running gear and engine it is pretty much damaged. And the engine ain't worth much.

If I pull those parts I will use them on a different truck or sell them.

I am going to start looking for a bronco 2. I had a lifted one before and loved it. And my youngest is my last one at home and he is 18 so he can drive his own truck from now on!
I ain't going to stop hanging out on here I just won't have much to contribute for a while.

I'd be interested in buying the carb/intake...shipping will probably be a bit steep, but depending on what you want for it I may be able to afford the upgrade. My intake might even take the carb without too much fuss...

If you can use it on another truck that would be a bonus though...let me know and maybe we can swing a deal if you want to part it out...I'd take the whole truck if you were closer...not many in this area worth going after...

I think I might just rebuild my carb otherwise...can't be that hard to do and it probably needs it about now...

Sorry Mark,
I can't tear into the engine where I live. if it was only for a short time it would be ok. I also found out that I can't pull the bed off here as well. I would like to use it on a different truck seeing that the bed stake holes are filled and so is the gas door finger lip. and the antenna is frenched into the right side of the bed.oh well:sad:
But I am pulling the bumpers, wheels, and stereo. I would also like to remove the lowering kit too but we will see.

Duane, That was a nice truck. I hate to see it go in a wreck. It is good to hear all involved are okay, though. Did you have anything special done with the rear axle? If so that may be worth keeping as well, if you can. I hope you will still check in on TRS once in a while. You really have made some positive contributions to the site. I wish you luck tracking down/ building up a Bronco2 if you decide that's what you want.

up n smoke- I appreciate the encouragement. it has been a rough two months. lost job, lost ranger, other son had a wreck, lost ranger lol.
as far as the rear end the running gear is stock and the engine has a few little things done to it but none worth worrying about.
everyone keeps asking why I want to keep the bumpers and its cause they have been shaved and smoothed no indentation running lenght ways across the bumper. they were a ton of work and they were hard to find as well. one piece front and one piece rear wrap around from a b2. that match.
no worries though my dad wants to help me out and buy me a new truck.
he has bought my sisters each 2 cars and I have always paid my way so he wants to do it so we are looking.
found an 87 b2 with 92,000 and it looks straight, also a 87 ranger that is so plain and bone stock it is cool.

No problem Duane...I've had quite a few repairs the last month that ran me about $800 that I don't have...lol

Hope you find a nice truck that you can use the parts off and get back in the (a) Ranger or BII...

Good hunting and much success!

UPDATE: I sold the ranger to a friend who owns a body shop. he is going to fix it and paint it to use as his personal shop truck.

As for a b2 I found one but it needs some tlc. it has sat for almost 10 yrs.
it has been started and driven down the road about 10 blocks and back once or twice a month.
it supposedly only has 44 thousand miles. but I am guessing 144 thousand. either way the body is in good shape and so is the interior. the paint is faded bad and the wheels are all rusted. its got the manual hubs, manual windows, manual trans, but it has a/c which I want since I am an old fart. also I will have enough money left for a lift and tires.

That is good news...you get a replacement and have some spare cash to boot...:icon_thumby:
