Well I have been trying to trade my planes for a Ford that I could use the engine and transmission out of in my 88 ranger, and sofar the only offers I have gotten is a few chevy cars with 350's in them, and one chevy truck with a 454, god I would hate to have to use a chevy, but what can I do. :icon_confused:

I was offered a Dodge truck with a v8-5 speed in it, but my past experiances with Dodges have always been bad.

So get ready for another Ranger with a v8 chevy in it. :bawling:

Bummer

sell planes for $$$ and buy a ford?

trying to sell them around here is even harder then trying to trade them, no one has the money, and the engine is about on it's last legs, I'm not v8ing it for more horse power, if i could find someone to trade me a ford car or truck with a v6 or a inline 4 in it I would use it, I just need something that is not leaking oil, and blowin oil smoke as I drive down the road, as it is I'll never have to change the oil in my truck, just the oil filter :) .

Have you thought using one of the trades offered as a beater vehicle and just put the Ranger on ice until you can afford to do it the way you want?

This might not make sence to you, but I love this little truck, and this is the first time in a long time I really like to drive again, my wife has a 96 chevy car, and I hate driving it. my Mother-in-law has a Acura MPV and I hate driving it, I guess I'm just old and wierd or something. :icon_confused:

Also, I'm disabled, so being able to afford it would take me a few years, as it is I'm looking at three years to getting all the undercarrage fixed and getting the body work done, and that doesn't includ painting it. last two months I saved to get the tie rods and draglinks so I could install them, this month I have the house taxs and house insurance due, and today I had to spend 45 dollors getting the idle pully and a new belt for my truck, so that does it this month for new parts, next month I'll get the lower ball joints, anf the month after that I'll get the upper, that install them all at one time. the month after that I'll try to get a transmission seal kit and do that.
SO trading is the only way I can get things done right now.

trade the 350 for a ford? or sell it i dunno...

I'm only going to trade for a chevy as a last resort, and as far as selling a chevy to buy a ford, no one around here has the money to buy stuff right now. also for some strange reason, :D Good Ford engines cost more then a good chevy engine. :icon_confused:

i cant stand the thought of parting with my rig either.

but it sure is hideous these days:icon_rofl:.... but i drive the wheels off it.

keeping it affordable as a daily driver was only accomplished with a gm powertrain due to time and money constraints so i know where your at with this.. but i used what i had and no regrets....:icon_thumby:

I just wish I could find someone to trade me soon, or at least buy my planes so i can buy something to pull the engine from.

grab the chevy engine if its a good deal. who cares what brand it is? ford and chevy engines can both be rebuilt with parts from the same companies. chances are, at least some of the raw material to make the blocks came from the same place. oh yeah, old ford or old chevy, chances are both engines were assembled by Americans........

well right now I have no offers on my planes, but I'm going to take the first good offer weather it be ford or chevy.

be my luck I get a dodge offer, or worst a rice burner.

My only attempt at a "Bastard" never got off the ground. Old Pontiac V-8 into 65 Chev, steering box was in way of center exhaust ports. I know ANYTHING is possible, but is it worth the work?
