Well i Guess this will do...mn_smokeaters new ride.

sooo taking it out today and i was crusing the highway and it sputtered and seemed to die for a second before coming back on. the check engine lamp came on with that then it came on a bit going down the road to my driveway and popped a lil....could it be bad gas? i think its been not really run much for a while at least a week sitting.

On a lot of older Dodges, you can cycle the key off/on 4 or 5 times, ended up "on", and the computer will output diagnostic codes. Not real familiar with Dodge stuff tho.

no codes popped up and no beans i had a gyro

maybe do a fuel filter and a general tune up. see were that gos. also go get it scaned for codes

That's just the car's way of saying "welcome to the nightmare of driving a dodge.... Sucker."

:icon_rofl: So true! I'm not gonna lie though my moms 2004 hemi Dodge durrango hauls butt (I think 0-60 in 5.25 seconds is fast especially for a SUV), but its scary when you start off and it locks into gear. To bad it's just typical chrysler trannys.

im out for a few days and u end up with a mitsubish that thinks its a dodge!!

What smokes, were you inspired by thatbluecar on wanted a mad ride like his?

And let the record show we painted his rims gold 2 months ago lol.

hit up thatbluecar for some info, we've done a bunch to his. Here's what it looks like now, you can't see the gold rims but you can see the lack of interior:D

To be honest I have no idea why they sputter... Mine does it too. But the thing just won't die despite the abuse it has taken and the complete lack of maintenance. As far as being too quiet, cut the exhaust off just behind the door, then it will be loud like mine. :headbang:

Edit: proof of gold rims as of roughly june 6th

nice econobox. wtf is with that a standard with no tach don't tell me it has a shift light.

There's no need, all cars used to be like that. A tach really doesn't do a lot for you in terms of telling you when to shift, different cars and truck with different engines and transmissions are going to have different shift points and those shift points will be effected by the load as well. Shift lights come on pretty much as soon as it's possible to shift without lugging the engine, which the driver can figure out on their own very quickly. I can get in just about any car and be able to shift completely off of feel.

There's two good ways you can tell when to shift:
1. Listen to the vehicle, the engine gets louder when the engine speed is increased. You can hear when the vehicle should be shifted.
2. Feel. It can take a while to learn if you aren't used to driving a manual but you can feel when the vehicle should be shifted. I don't know exactly how to describe it but you can tell when to shift. Easies way to describe it is using the accelerator as an indicator. If you are driving for economy once there is a decent amount of resistance in the pedal, shift. If you are trying to wind out the gears, when the vehicle doesn't feel like it's really producing more power, shift. If the engine isn't lugging or slowing the vehicle when you let off (engine braking) you are in the right gear.
