I found out my welder sucks, my technique and welds are great (according to my local professional), the welder I have (being flux core and under 120volt) isn't hot enough, so it splatters. So anyone else here use a fluxcore welder?

i do, have a 110V lincoln and i love it. works great

what kind of welder is it?

There it is

I love this welder too, but it just splatters a lot

flux core wires vary, I rather like the lincoln wire. With a 110v machine you might want to try a smaller diameter wire.

you get what you pay for with a welder IMO....and flux core splatters a lot, that's just the nature of that type of welding.

some companies make an anti splatter spray you could try

not really worth my time, I plan on upgrading as soon as I get done a few more weld jobs (saving up), going to buy a used Lincoln stick welder and possibly a gas mig welder (35 wire)

does it have two heat settings? and just a wire speed knob? if so put it on high and turn the speed up... just use small tacks and let them cool. ive used one of those ch ones from walmart before, theyre not that bad.

this one has 4 settings, 1,2,3 and marked off to the side is 4, which my generator wont handle anything more than 3. and yes, it has a wirefeed knob.

probably =/ welds are still good though =) proven quite well lol

also make sure the polarity is set correctly/try different brand of wire...

I've welded up a rear end with a 110 Lincoln flux core. I love my little Lincoln. I always found setting my heat higher and wire lower on flux core doesn't splatter as bad.

The anti splatter spray is OK but the nozzle dip (gel) is better IMO.

I used the gel in school and gave up =p said flock it
