Ok, so i have a '89 ranger stx (2.9L standard, 4x4). I bought this truck a month or so ago so dont have too much background info on it. I think it is lifted a bit because it sits a bit higher up then other trucks, and the leafs look a bit modified. But im new to this stuff so idk lol

Anyways, when i go to take sharp turns (example, turning out/into driveway or parking spot) the steering and whole truck shakes back and forth pretty rough. I am not entirely sure if it is only when in 4x4 or not as i havent had the truck very long, we just got hit with snow so not in 2wd a whole lot, and i just generally dont like pushing it like that incase something breaks.

It hasnt seems to do anything in normal intown driving or anything. Its just seems to be when i need to turn really sharp to fit in or out of somewhere. Right turns are fine and everything around town so far. I had a shop check out my front end because someone had mentioned it might be a tire rod or something, but he said everything was pretty good. Something was getting loose (cant remember part :S) but he said it wouldnt be a problem for a while. I dont like this mechanic and havent seen the greatest work from the shop, so should i get another shop to look over it?

Idk what other info might help, my tires are 235/75R15 but with the stock (215s) tires it had done the same thing. Thanks in andvance

Well on the good side, you have working 4x4, and that is what is most likely causing your problem, IMO

Your driveline is binding up in sharp turns, the power is trying to turn all wheels at the same speed, but in turns the wheels change speeds, make sure the 4x4 is off in tight corners in normal traction conditions, if it happens you need it just turn it on, when it is slick,

Thanks. Thats what i thought but i wanted to make sure before i kept driving and had a wheel or 2 fall off :P
