Here is the problem. I thought I need to just replace a heater hose but that was not the problem. On further inspection, it looks like a small hole just underneath where the hose attaches to.

Is there a way to plug this up somehow? I just need to buy a little time until after the holidays.

Any suggestions? UPDATED PHOTOS, SCROLL DOWN

Its got to be the heater core if its not coming from the hose coming from the fire wall

I forgot to clarify, the picture is the area right above the water pump, not the firewall.

I just did a closer inspection. I took a piece of wire and poke around and it appears to be a pinhole in the aluminum casting itself right below the hose inlet.

When I turn the engine off, there is hissing noise coming from it and when I poked the wire down there, I can definitely see where the noise is coming from.

Can something be used to plug it up or maybe welded?

I would try to use a metal based epoxy, you may get lucky. If its cast aluminum you will have a hell of a time getting that metal to fuse properly, although it can be done. I would try epoxy first.

Is that the weep hole in the pump? If so, replace the pump...

No , it is not the pump.

Thanks SoLong Stang, I'll look into that.

That is exactly where I am leaking from on my 91. I first thought is was the water pump till I realized coolant leaking above water pump. It is an awkward spot. Looks like where the hose goes into the block. I put som bars stop leak in. Helped but it still wants to leak.

You can buy that tube from new from most auto parts stores.

EDIT: I guess they are a little harder to find for a 4.0 the one for my 2.3 was in stock.

Thanks BOL. Maybe there are others out there with the same problem. I'm going to try some JB Weld.

I'll try to post some better pics too as an update. I'm not ready to try the stop leak yet as I heard that could cause other problems.

Is it possible to take the tube to home depot and get some tube of the same outer diameter???? I can say on mine which I just have started for the first time tonight I' had to tighten the crap out of the clamps to make it not leak... All is fine after a really good tightening!!

Update

I took some better pics this time with the engine components removed.

My question is, would JB Weld fix this or someone else suggested "QuickSteel". Would that work on aluminum? Sorry, I've never dealt with this before.:dunno:
