i just did the stretched throttle cable repair with some zip ties and wow, there's a difference, my cable stretched like 1 1/2" in 17 years, i recommend this to anyone not matter how old your ranger is...
It is probably the best use for scotch lock wire splices known to man. Take the metal blade out and they work perfect on a cable with a lot of stretch.
Contrary to what you think they don't add any power, just when you drop the hammer, the hammer has a little farther to fall... and it goofs up what you are used to gas pedal response feeling like in a good way.
i knew it didnt add power, it just lets the throttle go wider open than it did before cause the slack is taken up in the cable, and IMO it feels like more solid, not having your peddle go down half way then the accelaration starts
I did mine quite a while ago...was going to just replace the cable when I rebuilt it, but those zip ties looked so good under my pedal that I just used it...
