Hello,
My engine is from 85 or 86 in a Panther Kallista.
I 'm busy to fit a Weber 2 barrels to replace the Holley one barrel.
Do have all specialists of this engine some comments, helps to fit it perfectly ?
Best regards to all my US frends,
Etienne

Your English is a little hard to understand. If you are asking if a 2,barrel carb will fit on the 1 barrel intake, they are adapters that will make this happen, unless you pick up a 2 barrel intake. Welcome to TRS :icon_thumby:

ouf !

Hi,
Many thanks for your response.
Sure my english is not so easy to understand, sorry for that, it's my 3rd language.:dunno:

I will try to explain.

The one barrel Holley was fit on a 2 barrels intake. See picture (1) on my blog: https://etiennetinant.blogspot.com
I 've find the trans-dapt. It's fit perfect the intake and the carb ( behalve small ajustment, picture(2),(3)
But I stay with some problems:
what to do withe all air pipes ?
What about the main jets. 142-145 seems ok ? idle jet: 45 ?
Do both chokes open at the same time ?
Thank you for help,
Etienne

Hello Etienne:
Webers are great carbs. Used to have a pair of them On a VW Beetle many years back. I am not sure about the jetting for your particular engine but you are probably fairly close. Chokes? If you mean the choke plates in the top of the carb yes they are tied to a common shaft that is driven by the bimetal spring in the automatic choke housing. The throttle plates in the bottom of the carb are geared and both of them should move in unison as well. The choke plates should crack open slightly and then set the fast idle throttle stop when you press the accelerator to the floor and release prior to a cold start. Then as the engine warms warm air is routed through the automatic choke housing by a feed off of the exhaust manifold expanding the bimetal spring and opening the choke plates. This will also release the fast idle stop so the engine will drop to normal idle speed. The vacuum lines will be a bit more to do but without seeing what was on the original carb and being able to look at the replacement I can't tell you what to do. Maybe some closer photos of your engines vacuum plumbing would help.

I forgot to ask: Do yo know what vehicle that particular Weber was actually set up for?

By the way that Kallista is one nice looking automobile.

Welcome to TRS!

Is your car used for racing or street driving? If not for street you could probably remove some or most of the "air pipes" (vacuum lines) that control the emission equipment.

Depending on the emission standards in your location (Belgium), you may want to check with local authorities before removing anything.

Otherwise, if they are not really needed for emission testing purposes, I would suggest keeping the PCV (helps reduce crank case pressure). Doesn't appear to have an EGR system at the base of the carb/intake like we do in North America so that's not a problem.

It does look like there is an air pump on the passenger side but can't tell from those pictures. The air pump is controlled by some vacuum lines and can be deleted if not required by law.

Otherwise, may need to see more pictures of all the vacuum lines to help further.

Hope that helps!

Thank your for help

I will make some other pictures end of this week. I'm on business trip in the next days.
It's not a racing car. Kallista is a small amazing english car mostly produced in England with Ford Capri/Granada 2.8, 2.9. But there a +/- 1360 ex. produced with the 2.3 Pinto/Lima engine. OHC. 4 cyl. In 1984- 1986.
I will try to put the gazoline pipe, the electric choke and see (listen !) what it is.
Pollution is not controled on cars > 25 years old. No risk on this point. No Schwarzenegger on old cars. Not yet.
Regards,
Etienne
