Hi I'm new to the Ranger Station, I came across a clean '83 with 2.8 v6, got it running good but the 2150 carb leaks bad. Are there any aftermarket performance carbs out there and which are the best for performance and mileage? I found webber to offer a carb for this truck but they don't specify if its for a v6 or 4 banger. I also saw where a 4 barrel manifold is available but I don't want to modify the engine that much. Am I just better off kitting the 2150?
Thanks for any and all help

Find a 2100 or a 2150 non feedback carb with 1.08 venturi the stock carb you have is the 2150a feedback carb. You need to do the duraspark conversion if you dont have to pass smog tests. Do the research in the tech library under duraspark conversion. There are many threads here on the subjeck just enter duraspark in the search bar. You can rebuild that carb and possibly get the computer working correct, all the sensors and vacuum systems need to be right or it will never run correct. The biggest problem is the ignition timing advance rebuild the carb make sure all the sensors are connected and the vacuum lines are correct, disconnect the battery for 1/2 an hour and see how she runs oh yea to preset the carb turn the idle air needles out 3 full turns each from the lightly seated position you will know right away if something is wrong.

Ok I'll give that a try, the smog system has been disconnected anyway so i will look at how to do the duraspark,
Thanks a bunch!

Get a plate and block off the EGR you can use that carb until you get a good non feedback carb. I bought the distributor cap adaptor and rotor at auto zone as well as the module. I am still running the stock coil with no problems. Get the electrical together and plan on a day wiring it up and dialing in the advance. The only vacuum you need is the advance unless your preheater door is working in the air filter housing go ahead and hook that up it does help with cold starts the electric choke can be problematic as hooking it to battery voltage will burn up the choke thermostat and stay closed mine is just disabled until I get a new thermostat. I just have it full time open saves alot on gas mileage just takes a minute or two to put it in gear when real cold. Any Qs just ask the duraspark brought my 2.8 to life once I worked the bugs out.
