well, we bought that '99 limited explorer v8 awd with 17k miles. we paid $8000 for the truck, i think it was a awsome deal.

it runs and drives like a brand new truck! its so clean inside and out..i still need to give it a full detail but i was under it and the rust proofing/undercoating from the dealer is still shiny!

wanted to share :)

nice score.

been curious ....... how much more does a car retail for in Alaska? or is it the same as anywhere else ...... reason I ask..... out in California the old man just picked up a 2002 4x4 3/4ton Ram club cab with a diesel and a bank's power pack and 6spd manual...... paid 11,500 for it with 90,000 miles...... priced the same truck here (minus the power pack) and it was closer to $15,000

i'd say it depends...but they do go for alot more then down south, depending on the car/truck ofcourse but i'd say $3-5k more then down south depeding ofcourse.

yeah, i think it was a hell of a score, yes we paid $500 over retail for it, but it was owned by a old lady..never seen snow allways in a heated garage and no miles and looks/feels/drives like brand new..i think thats worth $500? eh? haha

hell yeah. I am looking at paying that much for a 4Runner with about 70,000 more miles on it (for those that can't think ...... thats 87,000 miles)

lol yeah i was trying to do the math and then say you just said 87k haha!

best advise i can say is keep a very close eye on craigslist...we sold our old '97 v8 explorer for full asking price with 96k miles within 24 hours on there..good ones go quick!

Nice truck, nice score! That's about as close as you'll find to "brand new" for it being a few years old. Congratulations.

I looked at a 4runner yesterday, was ready to buy it then I looked under it and seen the rust, and the paint was bubbled on the fenders.......... and he wanted $6000 for it.
90,000 miles, 5 spd, everything but leather...........just what we wanted but the guy lied about the rust, said it was rust free........ they lie about that makes me wonder what else is wrong with it.

yeah, i hate people trying to pull one over on people.. :icon_confused:

this week the mods will come, i have some piaas, diamond headlights, HIDs, cherry bomb vortext muffler, MAC intake all waiting to go on it...pics of that to come:headbang:

Nice. I wish I could get stuff like that on craigslist, never find anything good just big gas hog trucks, or crappy a$$ cars. and no truck bed bars!

You doing anything special with this one.

yeah, this was no craigslist find tho...it was a old family friend who is moving to AZ came to us first because they know we love them explorers haha

few mods...but i wanna try to keep it pretty stock..or atleast able to put back to stock..i cant bring myself to do anything more because its in such great shape and has every peice of paper..ect since new...i told my dad it could be a classic in great shape one day :)

Dang I need friends with junkyards (for parts!)lol.

I guess I would do the same, but my truck needs some work before I could restore it to mild offroad.

allrighty, well since it snowed today i need to go put the studded snow tires on the truck.

well im at it i'm going to put the MAC intake, diamond headlights/HIDs on it too :) maybe the piaas also who knows.

I would go with some Toyo Observes, their not studded but they work way better in the snow then studs, the studs only help on solid Ice plus when the studs are worn.. so is all the winter traction... I work at the Alyeska Tire in homer, I think I want to get some of the HID lights for my truck with some euro housings and order the rest of my KCs making ... 8 now i think?

sounds awsome, I would make it like a sleeper sploder, with like a turbo or supercharger and beef it up a bit, keep the outside and exhaust stock, blow everyone away... Baby steps first though.

haha i think exhaust/intake are the extent of motor mods..

we have studded firestone winter force snow tires on wheels that were on his old explorer, they went on this truck. we run studds they make a huge differance.

i got the diamond headlights/corners in, HIDs and the MAC intake...plus the snow tires on tonight..after my first day of work at truckwell of alaska...working on trucks all day i came home and worked on the truck all night lol weird...
