Way to go Ford! Simply F@CKING genious!!

My boss has a new benz. It has no oil dip stick. If the light comes on on the dash you dump in a qt. Hope the light never blows out:dunno:

I drive manual transmissions for that very reason.......

I just can't handle pushing the hose a little bit to fill up the trannies..... it's true.

I was gonna get some food from the fridge, but the door was in the way.

Think If he gets this worked up trying to put tranny fluid in, how pissed he is going to be when he realizes he has to undo a bolt to drain his oil! ahah :icon_rofl:

and he realized this today?
so its the first time hes checking tranny fluid?

At least it HAS a tranny dipstick. GM's for several years, and my '08 Sport Trac, do not have tranny dipsticks.
My wife's '06 Grand Cherokee doesn't have a transmission dip stick either. That is the dumbest thing in the world IMO.

My '05 Ranger is pretty easy to get too.

My truck doesn't have a trans dip stick. I've never needed one, don't really want one either.

I can deal with it bobo's. The point is, it's a stupid design flaw that was left there. And just so you know, in order to remove the dipstick I will have to remove the hose. Maybe if it was a bit more flexible I wouldn't have to, but it isn't. Seems kind of stupid just to be able to check fluid.

and if I could actually find a manual someplace I may have considered it. I drive one at least 200 miles a day. The Tacoma has a 6 speed.

I've never had to remove the hose to pull the dipstick on the auto rangers I've driven....... maybe you just got a defective truck. You should return it under the lemon-law. That is rather odd.... can't you just push on the hose to yank it?

There are several reasons for removing the dipsticks. # 1 it makes the transmission idiot proof (as far as fluid level). The new fluids expand at different rates so trans temp has to be correct and the correct fluid has to be used. I have seen as little as 4 oz of the wrong fluid turn a CVT trans into a nice boat anchor. #2 The trans is completely sealed so no dirt or moisture gets in, extending the service life of the fluid.

From what I understand, the new Fords, and probably others, are sealed with no dipstick because there's no maintenance on them. Now I know how stupid that sounds and think it's much dumber than the dipstick location this thread was started on. But in the end, I think what it is, is that any little thing you have go wrong with your vehicle, you hafta take it to the dealership to get serviced. That way the money stays in-house. Just my opinion. But think of how much cars have become more complicated to work on in the last few years. Just saying. It's how the rich stay rich, and the rest of us take it in the ass. LOL
