i put a digital water temp gauge in my truck and ran the power straight from teh fuse box, but when i turn acc. on such as my radio head lights and my kc's (7 of them idk if that matters) the temp jumps and goes staright up to 320 degrees (themax temp of the gauge)

Almost sounds like the signal and power wires are backwards, but I don't know how you have it wired, so can't speak to that. Were is your signal wire hooked in to?

the sending unit, and the power to the fuse box, i called usmmit and told them the problem and they claimed it was a bad sending unit, so they sent me a new one and it does the same thing

Are you sure it's not a ground issue? While doing my dash swap, and getting the wiring figured out, at one point had the sig wire and power wire to the temp but not a ground and it went to max. Just a thought.

Just curious, are these a matched set? As in the sender is 12V signal and the gauge is also 12V signal.
