so i noticed today that when i jack up the back of the truck i pour coolant allover the drive way. so i took a look and it looks like it is leaking from around the water pump can anyone give me some pointers or how hard is it to reseal a water pump??

You attempt to tighten the bolts holding it to the block.. If they aren't loose then you get a new coolant pump and install it correctly. Can you actually watch where the lsak is? Coolant pumps have a hole in the front bottom that leaks when the pump is worn out.. Could it be that hole?

didn't know that it might be the truck does have 105xxx miles on it and not sure if it has been replaced. it is leaking from the bottom so. it never has problems warming up and maintaining temp even here in nevada though

what bij jim is talking about is the weep hole on the bottom of the water pump if it leaks replace the water pump. you could have a bad hose or a leak some where on the motor

I actually got to take things apart today and there is a patch of dirt around the weep hole(mine is on top btw) and there are stains but i can't find where it came from. Of course on the day i decide to look for it it doesn't leak and i drove around thinking it had to be warm for awhile and build pressure.....nothing. this is pissin me off cause it looks like it is coming from the top radiator hose in to the manifold but everything is tight. And the strange thing is no matter what it never overheats you would think if it was goin out it would get a higher temp or sumthin

If coolant came out once then think of it as driving a time bomb! It'll prolly go out at night in the worst secluded place you could even THINK of if you don't pay attention, FIND the leak and then repair it.
A place to start is the radiator.. Is it completely FULL of liquid? Could be the leak is above the liquid and is only leaking air right now..

the fluid is about 1.5 in. below the top and i filled it up to see if i could get it leaking. i won't be able to get to it before the weekend. good think i live on base and can walk home

Ok there should NEVER be air in the radiator! Check the hose from the radiator to the coolant tank.. If it has a leak in it that could be your problem.. Also a bad radiator cap could be the problem.

i replaced the radiator cap cause the old one's o rings was torn up around the edges reseated a clamp on the lower radiator hose. seems to be pretty good now. the only strange thing i notice it that when i pour in more coolant and just wait a second the level keeps going down it is the never filling radiator. it starts about an inch below the top of the cap and i keep pouring and it keeps goin down......strange. maybe it is just working through the fins in the radiator. otherwise it stopped leaking.

It's damn leaking again and it looks like it is coming from the timing cover. i'm gunna replace the lower radiator hose but it is running down both sides of the timing cover........ it's pissing me off how it chooses when it wants to leak and when not
