my water pump makes a whistling sound when I hit the gas. (sounds like a whistle you would hear a coach using at a ball game). not sure what to think. any suggestion would be appreciated.

Water pomps don't whistle. The fan clutch, maybe. Check the other belt driven stuff, including the idler. Also check for a samall intake leak. .

The belt tension is wrong and the belt is slipping????

well i don't have a fan clutch, dad swapped that out with a solid metal fan when he own it. ( plastic one lost too many fins and made some bad vibrations ) but there does seem to be some sort of, out of place noise coming from the water pump. serpentine belt is good. replaced it less than 6 months ago and the idler puller was fine. tension is good also. other than the fact that I may need to keep an eye on the alternator, ( I think the bearing sounded a little rough ) steering is fine, no ac comp. no smog pump. I'm thinking maybe its the original, and it might be time to replace it. I'll be looking into changing the timing belt at the same time anyways. no sense tearing it apart twice if you don't have to.

can you take the flex flan off and go for a short run?
