Water Pump Pulley

Long time lurker/reader...first time posting.

The water pump pulley on my son's 1997 B2300 2.3L came apart. I'm having a heck of time finding an OEM replacement. Two different attempts from Mazda dealers have gotten me a pulley for a 3.0L.

Question then: Is a water pump pulley from a '97 Ford Ranger with a 2.3L the same as a water pump pulley from '97 Mazda B2300 with a 2.3L?

Yes they are the same. Are you needing the water pump pulley or the fan clutch? The pulley should be made of pressed steel (at least it is on the 4.0) and I don't know how it could fall apart.

It is indeed the water pump pulley. I'd never seen one come apart, but it sure did!

Should be a pretty common junk yard item.

Don't go to the Mazda dealer looking for parts for your truck. they don't stock to much and what they do or will order for you if way overpriced more that the Ford dealer and the parts store.

The engines are exactly the same as a 97 Ford Ranger 2.3L.

You might want to change out the belt tensioner as it might be causing a issue with the belt being to tight and causing the pulley to break.

Also, if enough force was placed on the pulley to make it break it's a good bet it didn't do your water pump any favors either.

Might not be a bad idea to replace that too, or at least take a very close look at it.
